Ordering a custom gun from Savage is pretty easy all things considered. Years ago they had a 110FP in 30-06 that was part of their normal product line that they stopped making in '05. I missed the boat buying one when it was a regular production run rifle and in late Dec '07 I made a custom order and had it in early Feb of '08. It's pretty easy for them to put something together, it's just a matter of how much is it worth to you and do you want to spend the money. For me, all these years later I still have that rifle and it's my go to rifle for when something needs a bullet hole from a long ways away.

The hog hunter really appeals to me as it is, but I can see why guys would want to get a 260 or whatever new fancy caliber is the perfect caliber of the day and make a custom order. It's pretty simple, it just takes patience.

I have gave up on factory barrels, I just need the rifle with the 223 case head bolt and I'll have a barrel screwed onto the action

What kind of accuracy are you looking for that you gave up on savage factory barrels? Just about every one of their heavy barrels shoots a 1/2" group with good ammo. Are you shooting for competition?

Really nice looking gun. Definitely on my short list.

Thanks, I think for the money you really cant beat it for the features you get. Although the factory stock is JUNK, but other than that no complaints so far. An as others have mentioned if you want a new rifle just get a barrel an put it on!

Got my Model 11 Savage out this week for a little more test and tune, this time with some of my handloads worked up for it. This was a 5 shot group @ 100yrds. I used a 68gr Hornady HPBT over 23.1gr of IMR 4320 with a 2.235 COL. Im gonna try an get it back out an tweek the COL an see if I can shrink up the group any more. But Im a big fan of this rifle so far, A load of fun to shoot!

Shot my smallest 100yrd 5 shot group to date with my Model 11 Savage in 223. I was using a 68gr Hornady HPBT bullet over 21.1gr of IMR 8208xbr set at 2.235COL. Witch yielded a group of .274" Needless to say I was a little taken back when I finally got to see it up close. I guess the planets must have been inline or something yesterday LOL

Yes it was! Best part is that I don't have a ton of money wrapped up in the rifle :):. Im very surprised at how well the rifle does shoot. For all those thinking about getting one DO IT!

That's some great shooting! I've always told people that any heavy barreled savage in 223 with an accutrigger is going to be an outstanding shooter. With a savage 223, it almost takes some of the fun out of shooting just because they're so accurate. Congrats on a great rifle and a great load!

The 11 vt has a different stock, and the bolt release is on the bottom by the trigger guard. I own a 11 vt in .223 and I like it a lot. The stock kinda sucks, but its an awesome shooter.
