I've been put in charge of planning a bachelor party in short order. We're thinking a sweet camping trip.

Where would you recommend in or around indiana as you favorite or best public camping area? Pluses would include: Not a huge group campsite, alcohol allowed(but that's not a real important one), lots of hiking trails, river/streams, maybe hiking to the campsite, and attractions near-by like a town.

    Any ideas?

If you like hiking Clifty Falls is awesome, lots of trails, creek beds, Rock formations, and its right next to the Ohio River. The only down side is the camp sites are close together. Not an issue for me since I spend most of the time on the trails.

Have you tried Home? Very close to you. There is a large RV camp area and a lot of pull off into the woods areas. Fills fast on the weekend so if you want a good spot get there early. Lots to do for a county park. No alcohol allowed but a lot of people take it.

Brown county State Park has 5 very large "Group" camping areas, very nice for a larger group, away from the kids and generators.

Go to lake Monroe. You can camp at Payentown or go to Hardin Ridge. You can hike, fish, DRINK!!!!, and if you are having a bachelors party and want to go to a club, aka topless bar, there is one in Bloomington. Don't know if you are in to that, but just an idea.

If you want to get rowdy then any state park campground is out of the question. State forrest campgrounds are less crowded and may be available but best would be HNF, may be Martin State Forrest. It's pretty much empty this time of year but I know several decent spots in HNF where you would need to bring your own weed whacker to cut down grass to make a camp site but you could pretty much do what ever your conscence will let you with out interuption or question. Be maybe 40 minutes to an hour from Bloomington T&A bars and one or two scuddy ones in Bedford. 30 minutes from Bedford, 20 from Shoals. 30 minutes at most from French Lick casino.

The amenities and over sight at your camp site would be what ever you bring with you. May be a pond to fish in.

Natural Springs Resort in New Paris, Ohio. It's literally 2 miles across the IN\OH line on I-70 east of Richmond. I work with a guy that actually lives there. They rent golf carts, little buggies, basketball court, showers, game room, beach, wetsuit diving, catch and release fishing, kids activities, etc etc etc..

Not sure about pricing but they sure have it going on down there...
