Best New Bolt-Action .22 LR?

i'm gonna do it, i'll say it again. I love my Savage MKII.

I have yet to find a bolt action 22 that will out shoot the really old remington stuff, plus they won't cost you much.

Maybe $300-ish. Plinking, target practice, and the occasional wascily wabbit eating the beans in my garden.

I got my Savage Mark II-BV (laminate wood stock, heavy barrel, weaver mounts, no sights) for $235. It's a tack driver. It wears a BSA 6-24x44 Platinum Target.

Without a composite stock and without the heavy barrel it should be in the $179-$199 range.

Savage also has Mark II "Classic" which is very nice.
