on a completely different note, i really enjoy the drumming of christopher bear, from the band grizzly bear. more laid back, jazz type, not the hammerhead speed demon.

Most of the top ones have been mentioned above.

Niel Peart not only a great drummer but wrote most of the rush lyrics.

I like the dual drummers butch trucks and Jaimie johanson from the Allman brother.
Micky Hart and bill Kreutzmann from the grateful dead.
Two drummers and that cross beat in stereo is real hard to BeAT.

If you have never seen a solo with carter beauford from the Dave Mathews band is better that most now. He swings tree limbs as sticks.

I am a HUGE Stryper fan, and even if Sweet isn't one of the BEST, he is one of the most SOLID and fun to watch drummers out there.

The "Visual Time Keeper", Robert is VERY talented as he also plays guitar, piano, and bass (just not on any album)
I have all of their albums and all of their autographs. Went and saw them when they played at 8 second saloon, very small crowd but still a great show. I had front row tickets and could reach out and trip Michael or Oz if I wanted to.

Seen them about 10 times over the years, starting in 1985. They are severely under-rated, and one of the tightest live bands I have seen.

    OK, don't flame me, but...
This is beatbox, not drummers, but the kid beatboxes through 108 Time Signature changes in this Dream Theater song, while showing what each one is with flash cards.. Pretty impressive

Seen RUSH over 25 times and Neil never fails to dominate, with style; got ta' sit in a drum clinic at DW back in the day with him too, just flippin' amazing.

I'll go ahead and throw in Stewart Copeland. No-one can make cymbals talk the way he can...
