There is no such thing as "best" no matter what you hear. Everything has advantages and disadvantages. Finding the right combination is a individual choice.
Agree with Vette, no best, only personal preferences.
Personally, if the changes are passed I will most likely still hunt with my slug gun and muzzleloader. Where I tend to hunt majority of shots are easily under 100 yards.
I will try the .30-30 Winchester if the rule change goes through.
I've not had any complaints with the .44mag or .45Colt.
I just want to try the .30-30.
There are dozens of "best" deer rounds under the current regulations, and if the DNR allows conventional rifle cartridges next season, the list of "best" deer rounds will be hard to count.
This year I shot 2 deer, one at 10 yards and one at 30 yards, passed others within 50 yards. Really trying to decide what I need to flatten the trajectory and make these shots easier. All joking aside, I will use a 30 06 or 45-70 next year if allowed. Mainly because I already own therm
i use my AR out of state every year and am always successful
if we could use .223, id be happy to not have to buy another rifle....but...i would make the sacrifice if needed to get another rifle
Most of my hunting spots I will probably still use my 44 carbine. For longer range I like 243. But I agree it's what works best for you. 243 is nice because it can be a nice varmint gun too, but again so can anything.
That will make at least two of us then. My 35 Remington Rimmed 1.8 does everything I need it to where I hunt. I'll say it will be tempting to pick up another T/C barrel, but not necessary.
