This man took the keyboard to a level it had never been before...He changed the musical landscape, aside from his work with George Clinton in Parliament and Funkadelic he was the keyboard player for the Talking Heads on a number of their albums and his work with various musicians over the years introduced him to a generation of people that may have never heard his work otherwise...

Hell of a musician, RIP Bernie. This is how I remember him, jamming with the Mule. (Bernie kicks in about the 1:40 mark)

Wow....I had no idea he did work with Government Mule....He is the definition of a "working musician" and the caliber of artists that hired him to play runs the American music landscape from Funk, New Wave Punk, Blues and Roots Americana and that is something rarely seen..

    Welcome to INGO sandman...Rep incoming....

Oops. I'm not taking the blame for this.

Well to be fair a post you made did put me on a three day George Clinton/Dr. Funkenstein binge.....I remember the first time I saw them on Midnight Special, Don Kirschner's Rock Concert, Soul Train or whatever show I was watching and my dad came in and said "What the heck is that?" I said, "I don't know...But I like it.." LOL...

You have got to remember the mid 1970's was the era of the Osmonds, Bay City Rollers, The Jackson 5, or anti war love hippie drivel etc...And then along comes this band with 30 musicians on stage and a space ship coming down from the ceiling...It was like a big ol' funky opera.....I had never seen anything like it....It was truly a wall of sound and made an impression on me....EVERY person on that stage was having a good time...No angst driven anti war hippie drivel...Just music meant to celebrate life, living, fun and funk.....

    This lil' cracker was moved...

I consider the Flying Burrito Brothers and Parliament, led by Gram Parsons and George Clinton to be two of the most influential musical icons out there...They both changed the musical landscape...

Until your post I had not thought of Parliament in years....
