This is easily understood...

The only way an emergency authorization for a drug can be approved is if there is not already an approved drug/treatment that is effective against the disease.

As we read recently, there were HUNDREDS of millions of dollars, just in royalties for government employees at stake here. They knew it. They cashed in and people suffered and died. Why we're not demanding tribunals with Nuremberg type punishments at stake in this aftermath is baffling.
