    I have to agree about this nonsense of wow-I-can't-wait-to-scare-the-census-worker crap.

    It's quite true that the census has been perverted from its original purpose and I feel no differently about that than anyone here.

    I mailed mine in and I expect no personal visit from a census worker. If one does arrive for some reason I certainly won't do anything so childish as to wave a gun at him/her and tell them to "get the fXXk off my property!!!" These people are regular joes just trying to make a buck, not conspirators, and they deserve to be treated with respect.

    To do otherwise is both stupid and counter-productive to showing the public that gun owners are valuable and helpful members of the communities in which they live.

    I've filled out two forms and sent them in.

    {They mailed me two}

    How much more do they need?

    My wife worked for the Census in the Paoli town building answering people questions and handing out forms to people who didn't get one or lost theirs. She was supposed to cover the "Valley" too but the extremely unorganized E'ville offices never let her know when and where.:dunno:

    I filled mine out, mostly. I thought a couple of the questions were too nosey.

    If they knock on my door, I am going to ask them to please be as brief as possible because I am cooking fava beans and enjoying a nice chianti.

    I went to my old house today to get my son off the bus (long story there) and a census worker had just pulled up out front. My ex (who didn't fill out or send in his form)works nights so I figured I'd take the hit for him if I could. She asked me if I lived there (no, not anymore <big grin>), did someone live there? (No, there's only 3 cars in the driveway and fresh mowed grass)( yes but he works nights so he's asleep now). So she basically got name, DOB and that he lived there on April 1st from me. Then she got my name since I didn't live there. Took about 2 minutes tops.

    !

    so much negativity...i don't understand why people have such a vengeance for the census bureau. as a college student i jumped at the chance to make $12.50/hour, its crazy to hear people referring to my job as "harassment..." "Obama's idea of wasting tax dollars" -? they've been doing this once every ten years since 1790..
    whats worst is that no one even comes to your address if you just mail the forms back...either way you handle it, its less than ten minutes of your time. It just seems so silly to talk about pulling 870's on people like me, trying to make rent.

    The government is authorized to count people. In my mind, that means that they can ask how many people live at a particular address.

    They are NOT authorized to ask how much money they make, their ages, their ethnicity, what languages they speak, their marital status, or their social security number (which is specifically NOT to be used for identification!!!!).

    If they aren't specifically authorized, then they can't legally do it.

    And with the government's record of keeping information private, that also means that it's only a matter of days or weeks before most of that info will be available to identity thieves.

    They can come here. If I decide to answer the door, I will tell them how many people live here. Other than that, if they ask further questions, they can talk to the door which will be slammed in their face. I don't like intrusive questions.

    On the bright side, there's only been a couple of census employees raping and robbing door to door so far.
