I have her the Equinox today and she will likely keep it.

How is do I confirm that it's AWD and not FWD? That would really tick me off if they sold me a FWD.

You should be able to see a drive shaft from the front transaxle to the rear.
You should also be able to see the rear differential and CV shafts going to the rear wheels from the differential.

    I had a 2011 Equinox.

Bad cam chain. Bad high pressure fuel pump. Bad vent actuator. Broken hinge on dash storage. Drivers window had to have help going up. Power lift gate had to have help to overcome the seal. Turn radius was huge for a small vehicle. Needed new pistons and rings at 60k miles. Was using oil again and the transmission was having enough troubles that Dallas Transmission said it had to go to the dealer. That's when I traded it in for a Ford.

If it's an all wheel drive, it will be badged AWD on the rear gate. It's also pretty easy to look underneath for a differential on the rear.

There should be a driveshaft/cv axle/ half shaft connected to the rear wheels...that's the simple explanation.
