I think courtroom rules are made by judges. Courthouse rules are made by the county commissioners. At least here, where the courthouse holds more than just courtrooms.

Not in Monroe Co. It was by judges order for the entire courthouse, the Commissioners didn't have a word in it, at least 10 or so years ago when it first went into effect there and the order was posted, other counties may, of course, vary.

Interesting. I imagine it is different most everywhere.

When my dad was a lawyer in Indiana, one of the judges in Hendricks County allowed him to carry into court. Dont ask dont tell would work though because anytime i ever went to court with my dad when i was younger, they never check lawyers when they pass through the metal detector.

Members of the bar can apply for a card that will get you in without going through the search. As a condition of getting the card you agree not to bring in any weapons.

is it a law or courthouse rule?
there are several courthouses in Indiana that don't have signs or checkpoints....

The exact way it should be in every chamber of government. The fact that I can't carry and get semi-stripped searched going into the City/County building in Indy is beyond ridiculous when the workers there go through NO security at all. Just a wave on from the FAT useless idiots "guarding" the joint.
