A giant thumbs up to the place ! I just spent 3 hours there. Went from 50/ 100 rifle then to pistol. I haven't been there since it was the "old" range. The staff was top notch and the RSO was NOT A DICK as so many others seem to think. He ran a safe range even when there were a few new shooters. There was no yelling or screaming as I have been led to believe there would be. He was actually quite nice.
I shot like crap, time to get new glasses, except at the 100 with my new to me Savage 110 Tactical. That thing shot 3/4 groups when I did my part.
Anyway, if you're looking for a very well kept, inexpensive, SAFE place to shoot, this would be worth a little drive.

I go to atterbury about once a month. It's the only public rifle range I know of near Indy that is larger than 25yd. I have never had an issue with the RSO being "a dick". I generally don't do anything stupid enough to get yelled at though.

I wish atterbury was a little closer to where I live though.

Too expensive for me. I'll stick to Crosley (free).

Too bad Crosley shut down the clay throwing area, though.

Atterbury is undoubtedly my favorite place to shoot. I have seen a few new folks who fondle their guns on the picnic benches and the folks there have handled them in a nice and professional manner. I think I saw one guy get yelled at last year but he kept picking his gun up while we were under a cease fire. RSO told him three times to leave the weapon on the bench and he actually went back to his bench a fourth time! I really enjoy shooting there as I feel that I don't have to spend all of my time watching the folks around me. Staff is very friendly as well.

Is a great place to shoot, pistol / rifle range is $7/hour. Never shot the trap range so can't comment on that.
