Attack at Le Louvre museum in Paris, France

NPR said this morning that the attacker shouted "god is great." Apparently we can't be trusted with an actual quote. I feel deplorable...

It's quite odd that the attacker came from so far for such a simple attack.

Maybe he had contacts in Paris, it's very odd for a tourist to rent a car in Paris too.

The attack occured before the security screening to gain acess to the museum.
I would imagine you would go thru security as a visitor to evaluate the security.

I wonder if his plans fell apart and he start to improvise. Or maybe he wasn't billy-badass terrorist like he thought and went to panic mode and screwed up his operation.

I am sure we'll never know his motives.

Yves Lefebvre, a police union official, said the attacker, who was carrying two backpacks and two machetes, attacked a soldier when he was told that he couldn't bring his bags into the mall.


Not sure how far away he was when he was told that, would the Soldier tell someone that before he was at the security checkpoint?

Same thing happened in the 2015 attacks in Paris.
One of the terrorists decided not to show up and threw his suicide vest in a trash can. at the last minute.
He was later arrested.

Still unclear if the attack targeted the soldiers or if the soldiers stopped an attack that targeted civilians inside the museums.

One man is reported to have attack a soldier with a machete while yelling "allahu akbar".
The suspect was shot by a second soldier.

Bomb squad was called, the attacker carried two backpacks.
