Kudos go out to the NRA, pro freedom senators and congressmen and all that responded to the BATF with comments. Joe Donnelly did not sign the petition, so he talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk. The shame of all this is we had to fight a decision curtailing our rights with a group of non elected overreaching bureaucrats.
Of course it got shelved. Did you ever think it wouldn't? What the heck to you think would happen to all the UNSOLD M855/SS109 that's currently in the pipeline that all the stores would have been stuck with? Wally World, the nations largest retailer, sells that ZQ1 stuff for $9.99/30 rnd box. You don't think that THEY want to be stuck with millions of rounds of that stuff in their warehouses that they can't sell..........let alone the long term supply contracts that they will lose millions on. Plus, do you think that ammo manufacturers are just going to STOP making it and only produce it for the military? Sure, it's no big stretch to switch to M193 and only produce rounds with 55gr FMJ, but ammo companies are running full bore to get ammo supplies up to pre-Sandy Hook levels and stopping the sale and manufacture of 62gr bullets will cost them millions. (and the govt will lose out on millions of sales tax dollars too!)
I thought the military was not using it anymore, switching to the "green" A1 version.
The AFT comment period was aimed at enacting the ban with the least impact on retail stores.

Shelves will finally be stocked back up.
Any bets on how long! And how much it will be overpriced for quite awhile.
Read the text of the Fox News article. Does anyone think these guys are really pro-2nd Amendment? Here are some quotes:
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is shelving a proposal to ban a popular but highly lethal type of bullet, amid opposition from gun-rights advocates and hundreds of members of Congress.
Gun rights groups have argued that the ammo ban would be a backdoor attempt to ban assault weapons. The weapons would still work without the M855s but they would no longer be capable of firing body-armor piercing ammo.
Typical media jackals. Anything to drive sensationalism
