Show us the law on the books that says you can't wear a hat inside of a building. If you can't find that law, then it looks like he should have been able to leave the hat on.

For the umpteenth time.......HE WAS ARRESTED FOR CONTEMPT OF COURT! That charge encompasses whatever the judge decides to make it. Talk out of turn, wear a hat in court, refuse to answer a question, etc. What are you finding so hard to understand about this?? It's 5th grade Civics for God's sake! No wonder this country is turning into a turd factory! Bill T.

Just give up Bill; if they haven't grasped this concept yet, they aren't going to.

I am fairly certain everyone understands what contempt of court is, I believe where the disagreement lays between the two camps, is whether or not the kid should had been arrested & jailed for "the act of wearing a hat" under that contempt of court authority.

One one side, folks are arguing that "the act of wearing a hat" in a court room is insulting to the judge, thus the kid deserved to be man-handled & jailed.

On the other side, folks are arguing that "the act of wearing a hat" in a court room does not insult anyone, at least not anyone who isn't looking for something to be insulted over.

Personally I think that the officer in the video, who was also wearing a hat, yet was not man-handled & jailed for contempt, poses the largest problem for the it's an insult! side.

Therefore IMHO it's more of an "equal justice for all" issue, there is really only two ways to look at this, either the court enforces all of their rules equally or it's a "one set of rules for us, another set of rules for them" situation.

    Richard,

That video was edited exactly for their agenda...It didn't even have video of the officer with the sock hat, it just had a picture. He could have taken it off the second after the picture was taken, but obviously the creators of the video wouldn't want us to see that.

One thing is for certain; if he stuck around while court was in session, if the judge asked him to remove it, he wouldn't have dropped to the floor like a pouting 4 year old.

The douchebag wearing the hat wasn't arrested for wearing the hat, he was arrested because he was asked to remove it and refused...Why wouldn't the police officer be awarded that same courtesy?

That guy is an idiot looking for trouble. I'm sure there was either a sign saying such or a sheriff had told him that before he walked through the metal detector.

These "gotcha" folks will continue to look for anything and everything in an attempt to become YouTube Anarchy Warrior of the Day. If wearing a hat in a courtroom (which was probably scouted out well in advance and they knew that was a good way to draw attention to themselves) doesn't get it done, then they'll come up with something else to raise attention to themselves and then refuse whatever authority comes their way because of it.

There are legitimate injustices occuring out there which would warrant legitimate attention, but this isn't one of them. These kids come off like...well, kids. They look in a mirror and think they are heroes. Most of the rest of us look at them and think they're wasting their time.

Hell, for good measure in case it hasn't been said enough, it's not about the hat! :D

These guys remind me of these clowns that are convinced 9/11 was an "Inside Job". The only evidence they can produce to prove the United States attacked itself is found on...............You Tube! Bill T.

You are all morons. Especially the original poster--and the guys who made this video. The guys who made the video more so than anyone. He was arrested for contempt of court, is that so hard to grasp? My goodness.

All this talk of hats, no hats, and ideas for INGO hats, plus how those buffoons saw themselves, reminded me of this...

Geez, so much FAIL in this thread.

If the fool would have just complied none of this would have every happened.

    Wait a sec.....

Then he would not have had those 15,000 hits on YouTube.

Well he's only 277,633,439 hits behind the highest non-music video.

Needs get arrested a whole lot more if he wants to catch up with that.
