    What is your hurry?

Stop and educate yourself, for the same money most shops sell RRA or Bushmasters for you can buy a lot better rifle.

Take you time, get on every AR forum you can find. Read, read, and read some more. Educate yourself, then take the knowledge you learn with you to the toy store.

Take what every Bubba on the forums says with a grain of salt.

your a bigger AR guy than most, and one I'd hardly consider every other bubba :):

what is your favorite AR manufacturer? and why? if you dont mind me putting you on the spot.

    Who:
I am my most favorite AR manufacturer :): I have bought only one complete "store bought" AR15. That was a Bushmaster during the AWB.

When I source parts for a build I stay with parts from Colt, BCM, LMT, Daniel Defense. I overlook barrels, BCgroups and such from DPMS, RRA, Bushmaster, ect.

    Why:
Over the years I have bought many items from the brands I now avoid. Parts aren't parts. They may "look" the same but that is where it ends.
The better stuff is usually the same price of maybe a few dollars more.

    My suggestions:
Depending on what "style" of AR someone is looking for will dictate what brands you'll have to choose from. But if you are looking for a M4 style or a carbine, here is a list to choose from in no particular order.

    Colt
    BCM
    LMT
    Daniel Defense
    Spikes LE series
    Noveske
    Knights Armamnet
S&W is at the low end of this list

If I was going to go out and buy a complete AR, it would be from this list, and what I chose would depend on how much I wanted to spend.

For under a grand, Spikes and S&W
For right around a grand, Colt, LMT, BCM, DD,
    money no object....Noveske, Knights Armament

    J/K I know it was a typo:D

I know I am going to get flamed but for your first AR on a budget I would go with Olympic Arms. For the money (around 600) it will be just fine. Sure there are better but for 600 I doubt it can be beat.:twocents:

Not gonna "flame" anyone for buying any AR.

But what I will flame is this "first AR on a budget idea".
Been there, done that, lost money on it after selling it to buy something better.

What usually happens after buying a "budget" AR15, the buyer 9 times out of 10 will spend a few hundred dollars more on it to "tacticool" it out. More times than not it is usually done at the time of purchase or within the first month. Once again these items are usually low end and not worth the money spent on them.

So this $600 rifle quickly becomes a $1000 rifle. Not pointing any fingers, but the picture threads on every forum are full of these kind of rifles or
new threads with titles like "AR noob buys first rifle".

Now if this buyer is truly on a budget and not just a cheap mo fo and
keeps this $600 rifle stock and learns how to use it, I'm happy as a tick on a hound.

Send me a PM if you want to try out an AR15. I can meet you at Eagle Creek most Saturdays. Last time I was there, there were about 6 ARs.

The guys there are all pretty cool and are usually willing to let anyone try out their 'toys'.

You do make a lot of sense....I just took the OP literally. I also don't like to see noobs get over whelmed with all the different AR’s available and think they have to spend 1000 bucks. I have no problem with someone buying 600-700 AR and trick it out as they learn.

Really a moot point because everyone knows AR are like Lay’s potato chips….you just can’t have one.:D

visit a gun club, look around at a gun show, ask lots of questions, read everything you can about the rifle, then buy what your buget will allow. with time and practice at the range you will have a blast.
