I want to build buy an AR but I am totally new to the genre.
Is it possible to buy the parts and make this happen?
This may have been posted before, but I did a search.
What are good places to get inexpensive parts?
Any direction is more than I have now.
i could built a whole 16" ar for $450 on black friday deals

    I found this.
PTAC 16" Mid-Length 5.56mm 1:7 Upper with BCG and Charging Handle
    It's ordered.
A local dealer has a complete lower assembly for $110.
So I have done it for roughly $427 shipping included.
    Now the waiting begins...
    10-15 business days before shipping.:(

    congrats.
I've heard mixed reviews on the PTAC gear, but I think it was mostly folks that were expecting a sub-1 MOA gun for cheap. As long as you have realistic expectations (2-3 MOA), I think you should be happy with it.
Also, Palmetto generally stands behind their stuff, although it might take a little convincing to get cust srvc to help if there were a problem (folks say it's hard to get someone on the phone)

Give us a range report after you shoot it and about the overall fit and finish

1:7 and 1:9 are both fine for 55gr projectiles. Sheesh. The 1:7 absolutely does not need expensive heavy bullets to do well. It's just more flexible.
