Don't forget that the falling value of the dollar is a contributing factor as well. Gas prices in other parts of the world have not increased at the same rate as in the U.S.

I got as lucky today as I was unlucky last Wednesday!

When I went out and about (for the first time since then), I saw a couple of stations with $3.649 for regular. By the time I got to Kroger, most of the stations were in the process of raising to $3.75. I got to Kroger before they raised theirs, so including my $0.10 per gallon discount, I got my regular for $3.549. I bought 22.188 gallons, so the "savings" was significant to likes of me!

Good thing I waited . . . but not too long!

Regular went to $3.959 - $3.979 in Crawfordsville this morning.

Fortunately I filled my truck at $3.549 yesterday (with Kroger discount) and got my dad's truck filled at $3.649 before the one station that didn't raise its prices ran out of gas.

A guy on a local forum said he $4.00 in NW Indiana. I'm not sure of the location but it will happen in the next few days. I didn't think we would hit $4 until the middle of summer. Now I'm betting its $5.00 by Labor Day.
