I mean real car audio, true SPL or SQ! Not the shut you hear rattling trunks.

I own a term lab and have been into audio longer than firearms. Just wondering if that was anyone elses PASSION.

Bassheads are welcome but please don't come at me with, I got these 2 15's at Walmart or My kickers are super loud, they do 210 db's

I am not really into it, but I have spent a few dollars outfitting my rigs.

Got a Memphis powered Alpine/Focal/Memphis system in one truck and a JL powered Pioneer/Hertz/JL system in the other.

I hate rattles....I gutted the interior of both to apply sound dampening layers in both.

Here is part of my last install i did:

I had a lot of fun this summer playing with my daily driver.
What sound processor are you using? I'm running a 3sixty.2 off a lap top

Even tossed the W7 up front for fun too

I started installing professionally 21 years ago and stayed with it until about 2000 or so. I still do it on the side. My 1993 Passat was decked out. My current BMW has a great sounding factory L7 13 speaker system. When money permits I will be adding to it.

Old school install. I loved my Orion SX amplifiers. I LOVED my Pioneer P1R

You spent more on sound deadener than some spend on an entire system.
How do you like the 13TW5's?

    13TW5s are GREAT!!

Nothing currently, just the basic stuff through the headunit. I had considered going with an Audison Bitone, but never went with it.

Interesting thread. I dont have much, when I bought my vehicle it had a 12 inch JL with a ported enclosure. My alpine 6 disc changer just stopped working and I want to get another one. Any information on how to go about this? Could I just put another used one in there? It runs from the trunk to the stock acura stereo.

Short answer is yes. Assuming the connections are the same. I imagine there is some sort of AlpineBus to RCA converter that is being used. Check the cables going into the changer to see what your options are.

As stated above, if the changer is bad it's a simple plug and play swap. Again, assuming it's the changer. CD players are dirt cheap now a days too on eBay and craigslist.

The bitone is a great unit. Tons of flexibilty and control. Also great if you plan on doing a tablet or smartphone as a source. I Might be going that route but want to try a 3sixty.3 as well since you can now Bluetooth your source into it.

I used to install at a shop in Chicago b4 I went to united audio in the mid to late 90's.

How's this for oLd school, 1st big install when I was 18 in my drop top Z28.

One of you guys need to do my boat. I traded in 70mph for a pontoon. Since I don't have speed, I need good audio!

I am slowly changing out the speakers in my BMW.
Only so much one can take from speakers that sound like:soapbox:

From the reading I have done, it looks like the fun part will be when I decide to change the amp and subs. We may just have to hold off a bit there.

Anyone ever heard of BillFitzMaurice ?

I've built quite a few of his designs, was going to venture into the auto-tuba this winter now that the holidays have settled down.

The Titan-48's and Tuba 36's I've built and used for DJ'ing, as well as a club install. They put out massive sound with very little power. They're CHEEEEP to build too!

Back in the day I had a Kraco am/fm cassette with a JC Whitney EQ and 4, 6x9 Jensen speakers in a baby blue Pinto wagon. Talk about jammin!

I'm no master at car audio, but I do have a 12'' kicker comp. pushed by a memphis in my Dodge Dakota. This spring I need to work on getting my door speakers changed out.
