Anyone ever seen/owned one of the Springer double stack 1911s?

I have seen a few online, and was wondering how they compared to the para-ordinance wide bodies.
Been thinking doublestack lately.

A buddy of mine got one when they first came out....The only issue he had was with the magazines...Springfield Armory was good about it and replaced the magazines and she runs fine now....

I have the Rock Island version.
Lotsa bullets for sure.
It is a handful though.
The grip is much larger than a regular 1911

I bought a new Springer double stack a few years ago, it was the G.I. version.

It was a lot of fun, but heavy as heck. It only came with one mag, which sucked, but I found the Para .14 magazines worked fine.

I traded it on something else, but it was a decent pistol.

Had one of the GI models. Sent back to Springfield custom shop for Novak cut rear sight, dovetail front, ed brown beavertail, combat hammer, trigger work, ed brown fitted barrel bushing and finished in Black T. Sold it a year later. Gun would not go into full battery after each shot until there were less than 10 rounds left in the mag. Just had to tap the bottom of the mag and it'd go back into battery.

Then again, when you try double-stacking .45 ACP, there's only so much you can do...
