After reviewing what I have wrote so far I noticed a Huge error in something I wrote. And Instead of correcting it right away I thought I'd give a Rep to the first reader who spots it. While there may be a few small inconstancies and unanswered questions I assure you most of those are part of the story. but the one I found should be real obvious. Good luck! Working on the next installment.

You only have a max of 50 hrs of run time on your genny with the fuel supply you have. Not 250hrs.

Good Job! Can't believe I made the math error but some times I have some I am short on time or doing this on one of my sleepless nights. Perhaps I'll do that again on purpose, for a little added Interest.

Thanks to our affiliate in Phoenix for that report we hope that you will stand by for additional information as this crisis continues. We now take you to our White House correspondent Wendell Goler. Bret things here seem to be in chaos. We have had no word from the White House on anything. I am standing outside the gates of the White House with other members of the press, and all we have to report are rumors and unconfirmed reports. And I will not speculate on rumors I will tell you that I have had contact with some of my usual sources, and this is what I have been told. Shortly after the earthquake hit, which was still very violent here in Washington, there was what my source described as “medical activity” in the White House. There is also an unconfirmed report that a Marine Helicopter was dispatched to the Vice Presidents residence at the US Naval Observatory, and that helicopter has crashed. Ed Henry has been sent to confirm that report. We do not know if the VP was on the helicopter. There is a flurry of activity here right now Bret and we simply do not have much we can confirm. There has been a continuous stream of SUV’s and Limos escorted to the White House by Secret Service and Capital Police. I have only been here about 30 minutes and can only tell you that it appears that most of what I have seen appears to be members of the cabinet and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Just a moment Bret we can hear some more sirens in the background coming quite close I’m going to see If I can determine who this. They are approaching at a very high rate of speed, White House Security are pushing us back to make room for the gates to open. The limo is just now going past me and it appears to me that the Speaker of the House is inside. It is pulling up to the west wing, and I can see someone approaching us from that area. We may be getting some kind of announcement in just a few seconds…Yes Bret I don’t recognize the staffer but he appears to have a statement in hand.

If I could have everyone’s attention Please…PLEASE…could everyone be quiet for a moment, I have a brief statement from the White House, and I will not be taking any questions!

The White House Wishes to convey it deepest sympathy to the victims of the earthquake crisis in the Midwest. The Department of Homeland Security and FEMA have been notified and are in the early stages of planning a massive relief effort. The following Military bases have notified to go to full alert status for staging those relief efforts: Fort Hood Texas, Fort Benning Georgia, Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas, and Wright Paterson Air Force Base, Dayton Ohio. A News briefing will be held at the White House at 11AM Eastern Time.

Bret, the Staffer has abruptly turned around and headed back tot he west wing. You can hear the rest of the press corps shouting questions, but he is ignoring them. Bret, I think there is something more going on than we have just been told. The Staffer kept referring to The White House in the prepared statement, not the President, and that is unusual. I’ll be standing by and report on any changes in the continually evolving crisis. Back to you Bret.

I looked at all the faces of my neighbors and they were all stunned when I shut down the television and the satellite, and before any one could say anything I said “This looks really bad people, I don’t think we can learn anything more useful until the Press Briefing at 11AM. I suggest we all gather as much cash of each of us have because debit cards aren’t going to be working, and go and try to procure as many supplies as we can before mass looting occurs like Katrina. I suggest we all meet out front on the street in 15 min and we’ll come up with a plan. Arm yourself if you can, this could be very dangerous!”

Couldn't sleep tonight so here's a little more...

“I’m going to go to the garage and shut down the genny” I began, looking at my wife. “You’d better get dressed too.” She replied. I had not even been thinking about my attire but there I was in my old worn out cotton gym shorts and well worn t-shirt with multiple holes in it, and I was already dripping with sweat, and what remained of the insulation from the attic was beginning to stick to me everywhere, I could tell it was going to be another hot, humid Indiana August day. “I’m going get this chunk of ceiling out of here and into the garage before I shut down the power. Are all the containers full of water?” “Yes and the tub filled up just before everyone got her for the news.” “Good” I said”I’ll start filling the trash can…By the way have you seen the dog or the cats since the tremors?” “No” she said “But I’ll take a quick look around I know they did not get out on me. They are probably in one of the back bedrooms hiding.” “OK” I said on my way out the side door. It opened much easier than the front one did damn this one used to be the hard one to open and close. I punched in my security code on the key pad to open the 16’ wide garage door to let out any CO build up in the garage. Then I grabbed my tow chain from the back of my Grand Cherokee and then I retrieved a pad lock from my work bench. After shutting down the genny I quickly wrapped the chain around the frame of the machine and then the corner post of what used to be a ½ bath in my garage that now served as storage, and secured the genny with the padlock. It will at least make some one work a little bit for it I thought, I’ll think of some thing better later. As I returned to the house I threw the garden hose in to the trash can and turned on the faucet on, this thing would probably hold 75-100 gallons of water it should be full by the time we got back from our supply run if we could get any.

“Did you find our babies?” I called out. “You’ve got to come see this Mike” my wife replied. I walked back to the larger of the two spare bedrooms which is were I could tell where my wife was. “Look at this” she said pointing to the back corner. There was Buttercup curled up in the corner of the room, and Merlin was curled up next to her. Buttercups nearly white coat and Merlin’s black shiny coat contrasted so well and their heads were opposite each other it reminded me of the “Ying & Yang” symbol. “Where’s Samson?” I inquired. “In the other bedroom…UNDER the bed!” I smiled a little because I just knew what I’d see. So I went to look under the bed in the other room and sure enough there was Samson crouched all the way back in the far corner, eyes big and wide open looking like golden marbles, his whole body was shaking with nervous fear and he was constantly jerking his head back and forth at the slightest sound. I stood up and looked at my wife and said “That’s our Samson, look in the Dictionary under scaredy cat and there’s a picture of our Samson. It was ironic that he was named for one of the strongest men in the Bible.

“How’s the head Hon?” I asked, noticing that she had managed to get a more permanent bandage on her laceration. “Fine” she said “Let’s get dressed and get going every one’s going to be waiting on us if we don’t hurry up.” “You’re right” I said and I quickly grabbed socks under wear, and a black T-shirt from my dresser. Then from my closet I chose my green military Camo pants and a black Hawaiian Shirt. After dressing and putting on my running shoes, which did me no good since I couldn’t run for nothing due to my arthritis. I turned to the end of the bed and grabbed my heavy leather belt I always wore with my holsters. I turned back around and punched in my code to my handgun safe, and opened the door I grabbed my Colt 1911, making sure it was loaded with the Hydro-shocks I usually kept in it. And I fed the belt through the Kings Holster and placed it on my left side so the Colt could placed in a cross draw position. I continued to feed the belt to the loops till it was on the right side of my body and then I grabbed My Ruger P95 making sure the Gold Dots were still loaded, placed it back in the leather thumb break FBI cant Holster and finished threading my belt and pulled it snug. I then laid out the Taurus 9mm and 2 spare magazines all loaded with Gold Dots for my wife. I then reached back and grabbed the 7 additional mags for the 1911, and put them in my left cargo pocket because I had no other means of carrying them. The two extra mags I had for the Ruger I placed in my right cargo pocket because there was no room on my belt to comfortably carry the mag pouch. I also grabbed my CZ70 .32acp for which I had some over loaded XTPs, that thing was built like a tank for such a small caliber, and I figured it would work as a back up, or primary if some one in our group did not have any kind of gun. Finally I reached in to the ammo box that I kept my shot gun shells in and grabbed two boxes of 3 inch 20ga slugs. My 12ga still had a scope mounted on it and had the long vent rib barrel to bulky to take along. The 20ga with its smooth bore slug barrel would be shorter, lighter and easier to handle, considering all the other hardware I was carrying. But I was incapable of running so If presented with a bad situation, I’d have to fight if I could not escape easily by car or find good cover. I grabbed the Mossy 20ga and laid it on the bed and as I did I saw this puzzled look on my wife’s face as she was holding her Taurus. “I don’t have a License for this.” “Honey” I said, “Do you really think we’re going to have to worry about that today?" She looked a little embarrassed, and said “You’re right” “What we really going to need to do” I began “Is concentrate this morning on getting what ever supplies we can get…and not getting SHOT! The Hospitals are probably already overwhelmed” I reached down for the Mossy and began to load it; I racked the slide once slid the safety forward. “Are you ready?” “Yes” she said. “Let’s get going then.”

    Awesome work! seriously..

Oh and I know the fuel calculation was caught but I think I caught another reality error. What I don't understand is how can you look to the South East from the neighborhood your characters are in and see downtown Indy? You state that the are in an area where Lawrence fire engines are? Isn't Lawrence on the East Side? Meaning you would be looking South West to see downtown? Just bucking for some rep cause you offered it up for error correction..

Keep up the great work.. A seriously possible situation.. Oh and I honestly wouldn't have thought of filling my trash bins with water, cause I have holes in mine..
