I know and work with the two morning photographers at Fox. Neither are anti-gun and I've had conversations with them about firearms before. The station has at least one INGO member also.

I wasn't there for this story, so I'm not sure if there was a reporter there. I would suspect it was probably a producer that didn't know what they were talking about, or a reporter that didn't know what they were talking about.

I can assuredly say though, if it was either of the overnight photographers...they didn't try to "roust" anything. Zero chance. Not all media/press representatives are tin-foil hat hippies...or else I would have been fired years ago...

What else would one expect from this local station. I've been on many scenes when they show up. I've seen them try their best to 'roust' someone into saying something defensive and they go back to their studio and edit it so they sound offensive. I have absolutly no respect for this station. They want to be more like the show entertainment tonight. All flash and bang no sustenance.

break into my house and im not going to care what the news calls the burglar im still going to call him stupid

    I'd probably call him "dead".....

I don't get my jolly's off of seeing people die or have any desire to shoot anyone, but if someone breaks into my house, I'm going to ask questions later....

Ding, ding, ding. Sort of like some gun owners on here who continue to slaughter vocabulary like "clips" when they refer to a magazine.

Being overly "PC" isn't something that is the sole property of either side of the political aisle. I sincerely doubt there was an attempt to malign the homeowner with the usage of the word "hostage," but rather an expedient use of language by a twenty-something producer tasked with generating 4.5 hours of morning show content. Certainly nothing in the body of the article painted it as the "homeowner was bad guy."

Not the way I would have phrased it, but not an expression I would have blinked at were it one of you describing it in person.

"Vehement, religion and gun clinger, McCain/Palin supporter assaults down on luck father during these troubling economic times. "

They need to hire me to write their headlines. :)

Now THAT would be a headline of note. Of course, "Vehement, religion and gun clinger, McCain/Palin supporter" would describe 85% of the folks at Fox over the age of 30.

The new stations do whatever they want. They dont care about anything but ratings.

Some truth in that, though not "new."

    Ratings=value of inventory to advertiser.
Inventory (ads in a 24 hour day) is finite.
The only way to increase fiscal performance for corporate investors is to maximize value of finite inventory.

Television stations schedule content (and culture of news delivery) to the maximum number of viewers. They are typically a reflection of the public psyche.

Ever wonder why the judge shows/springer-esque talk shows run in the middle of the day? Who is the audience? The ads are for bankruptcy, personal injury, and back-to-school quick? Who is at home watching in the middle of the day, by and large?

You're right. Things are sooo much more unbiased when the mass media is owned/controlled by the government/people through socialism/communism. ;) NPR, PBS, BBC, China, Russia, France? kidding...

In an odd twist though, my kids (8 and 5) really only get to see ad-free (mostly) PBS kids shows.

    Now says:

"Homeowner holds burglar until police arrive
When Barrera began looking around the house with a flashlight the homeowner grabbed his gun and fired a shot, striking a glass door."
