sad news, aproximately 5k rounds of ammo got involved when my gun room flooded. sad day, sad day. shouldn't really hurt anything, but it was in original packaging and now my wife has seen a partial ammo inventory. could be trouble. hehe.

Let me help you out here!

Story 1: "I was holding it for my buddy techres!" This will only work if you send me all 5000 rounds at no cost, or at least the cost the ammo was when you first started "holding it" for me.

Story 2: "Financial investment to fund our really nice night out!" This also will only work if you sell me the ammo at 10-20% over the cost you originally bought the ammo for.

Either way, techres is here to help you out!

it's good to know that you're willing to go out on a limb and helpl me out like that, techres. really. i should be alright unless she goes in my gun room and really starts looking around. hehe. 5k is EASY to explain compared to the rest of it. thanks for the support guys, but if the little general gets too upset, i may need it all to get out of there until she cools off. hehe. redhead you know. wouldn't have it any other way.

My wife says she cannot complain about my gun inventory or ammo in storage. Although it does take up some space... she says as long as the bills get paid, all is well. :twocents:

the true answer to the question, imho, is when you no longer are able to store more ammo, you have enough until you add on to your house. then you get more. richard's (got rest his soul, you are remembered) first rule: have enough ammo.

    Obijohn,
I feel for your loss. Hope you didn't lose any.

My wife found me out last fall.
She had me on an ammo moritorium.
We were restacking my Garage/Bunker shelves when she found my 4 cans (1200 rds) of 54r, I had recently snuck in.
I only paid $154 delivered for 1200 rds.
She was not impressed with my frugality.:do2:

I'm still trying to convince her that "There is no such thing as too much ammo".

Ummm.... I would be considered an ammo supplier here, but just a novice "collector" on ARFcom. Some of those guys shows tens of thousands of rounds:do2:.

I did find some WIN 5.56 for $89 per 1K when I cleaned out the closet last year. That was purchased when I worked there back in the late '80s to early '90s, and I am sure I paid less than that for them.:rockwoot:

I try to keep at least 5K per caliber in 5.56, 7.62 and .30 on hand.
