Guys I was wondering how much ammo is enough? My current inventory consists of around 1000 rounds of various calibers not including my black powder/muzzleloading supply and I have 500 rds of .223 on order. I feel the need for more. I just dont think you can have to much....Am I NUTS?

No! I wish i had way more ammo....i want to have like 5000 rounds of .223 always, and like 1000 rounds of .233 just to go shooting. You can never have to much ammo

    You're doing a lot better than I.

    I've got ~ 500 rounds of .22 LR
    9 12gauge OO shells
    and ~ 500 rounds of 230gr .45 ACP FMJ

I'm planning on purchasing some bulk pack .45acp reloads (about 2400 rounds worth) and bulk pack .223 reloads (1000 rounds worth) when the weather warms up a bit.

Both for range time. I'm still waiting on my HK to arrive, and haven't made my AR purchase yet.

Prolly sitting at 1500 on .223 and close to 2k on 9mm. Not sure about .22, but its a bunch.

2k of AK ammo and only about 60 rounds of Swiss 7.5.

Whats bad is I only have about 100 rounds of .45.

    You can never have enough.

I like to keep around 500-1000 rounds of 9mm, 200-500 rounds of .38 Special and a couple hundred 12 ga in various forms. I don't have an AR yet, but I will be getting one in July for my birfday and I plan on keeping 500-1000 rounds of .223 around. I am getting a couple of .22's in two weeks and I'll probably stock up on 4-5 bulk packs for those. And it's never enough!

I'm not sure but somewhere well in excess of 20K.
    10k+ - 7.62x54r (I have 4 Mosin-Nagants and an FPK to feed)
    5K - 9mm,.45 acp,7.62x39,7.62x25, .22lr

More calibers but not in large qty.

I try to stick to a few main calibers and buy ammo in bulk.

I also have some Collectables: Enfield in .303, Mauser in 8mm, K31 in 7.5 swiss don't have a lot of ammo for them due to price and scarcity.

I plan to do an indventory and start tracking my use.

I would say if you can afford it, and it is where you wanna stick your money go for it. I would say that with what I have seen as far as ammo prices go, you would have no problems selling and possible make a profit in the future if you where to buy a large amount and decided you needed the cash instead. Because after all you can not buy cheese burgers and make the car payment with bullets...yet...

I have 5500 rounds of 7.62x39 1000+ 7.62x54, 2 cases of 12 guage, 300 rounds 10mm, 600 rounds 357 m, but only about 500 rounds of 9mm. I just got through checking it all before Knob Creek next weekend. I have found good prices at the shoot on surplus ammo over the years.
I also have 400 rounds of 45acp to get rid of if anyone needs them. No not free.
