Sometimes I use winchester. Sometimes I mix different brand in 1 tube ect ect

It seems like i read somewhere that the newer expresses had extremely tight chamber tolerences. polishing the chamber may help you...but im not a gunsmith or a professional

I am a Winchester fan myself. When I was looking for a HD shotgun I checked out the Mossberg 500 and 590, the 870, and the Winchester SXP Defender, which is what I ended up getting. It has never given me any problems and in my opinion is the best built out of the 500, 590, and 870. It just seemed solid and it has been. The only thing that some people might not like is the lack of accessories there are available for it. This did not bother me because I do not need or want an adjustable stock, a shell holder, or some other accessory on my shotgun.

gglass might be right, replacing the extractor might be the solution. I've never in the 10+ yrs not had a shell not chamber or extract, thousands of rounds through it with no problems.

Tell you the truth...Ive had a few snags with my 870 express too...

If I rack the slide quickly, like for follow up shots on a missed clay disc, it wants to double feed...sometimes...the faster I rack...the more likely to double feed.
Also had a few fail to extracts after some 3-5 round bursts...heat?

Been running Remmington 2 3/4" sport load out of it since I got it....gets worse with 3" shells.

    Maybe try 2 3/4" shells only....OP

    Anyone?

    God bless

I've had a lot of 870's over the years and never had such a problem....or any problem for that matter...........

ALL you guys with problems should look up you SN's date of production and compare on here....so that we can investigate through Remington if there was a change in the production process that may have reduced their reliability/function....if they are respectively close in date..then you can send that information back to a manufacturer (Remington) and they can research any/all changes they made prior to those dates and possible figure out a problem...so they don't make future mistakes.............as with anything in manufacturing, every part, every component, ever step of the process is meticulously monitored and recorded for a LONG time...for just this reason...in case they need to make a recall and such

Uncommon for an 870 to give any kind of problems. My brother has had his for a number of years with no trouble. But other than the 870 you can look into the Mossberg 500 series. I have one and it functions perfect, and they are very reasonable on price.

for shotguns I'm a remington fan...but I also like mossberg 500........for semi auto the Remington's have proved themselves more and over a longer period of time than any mossy.....
