Howdy folks! Quick question for you today. I've noticed that the AK-74u series of rifles have a gas-piston system that is shorter than the regular AK-74. My question is, apart from the benefit of shorter length, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each length of gas system? Are there any differences in reliability when using different loads of ammunition? Would the ruggedness be compromised in a shorter system? If both given long barrels, let's say 16-20 inches, would there be any difference/advantages of either system. What if they were both given very short barrels, say around 10 inches? Anyways, it just crossed my mind earlier and I was wondering if you guys were as curious as I am. Thank you for your time. -Ben
