When are we going to discipline children and stop blaming tools,media,and past events!?

More to the point, when are we going to invest more into mental health in this country?

• Sandy Hook - Kid was possibly schizophrenic, in addition to diagnosis of Aspergers and OCD. The kid changed his socks 20 times a day for heavens sake
• Aurora - Was under care for homicidal thoughts and his doctor was hamstrung in reporting it and in having the ability to commit him, supposedly
• Columbine - A psychopath with a messianic superiority complex and a depressive. Harris could have told Klebold to jump off a bridge and he'd have done it.
• Virginia Tech - mutism, anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder.

Need I go on? This country has a **** poor record of mental health education, care, and policies. I say this as someone married to a sufferer of depression and the father of a child with ADHD (and anyone that says that doesn't exist deserves to be throat punched). We could have prevented most of the above attacks if we just had a better system to evaluate and treat mental illness in this country. Keep the celebrities (like that wacko Jenny McCarthy) and the idiots out, and have a good, grown up conversation about treating the mentally ill in terms of the public and individual good.

I agree completely.Unfortunately,at least one article already mentioned 'automatic weapons' while numerous others spoke of an interest in 'assault rifles' so we can tell where this is headed...
