I knew this was coming even though people assumed that it wouldn't. China is going to secure the largest rare earth deposits known outside China.

    No rare earths no computers.....

And a new oil pipeline feeding them and Russia...

And with Saudi Arabia signing a new military agreement with Russia, well I suppose that means the petrodollar is looking a little ripe for destruction.

China has been waiting to capitalize on this opportunity for 20 years.
I've been wondering which way this was going to go. Whether the agreements were in place for Afghanistan to anchor that section of the new silk road or if they were going to be the troll under that part of the Eurasian land bridge.
That headline pretty much confirms the worse case, that they will stabilize the region for China.

Not sure how that makes her woke. I can forgive her for not knowing they were Brits, but those are not our uniforms or our rifles. You would think that a General over the training command would at least know that much. Not that she probably sees much other than dress uniforms.

At what point is this on her? She flew to get married in June. The US began evac'ing non-essential personnel in April. The State Dept advised against travel and warned that evac options were limited:

State Department's travel advisory in April:
Afghanistan Travel Advisory – Level 4: Do Not Travel

On April 27, 2021, the Department ordered the departure from U.S. Embassy Kabul of U.S. government employees whose functions can be performed elsewhere.

Travel to all areas of Afghanistan is unsafe because of critical levels of kidnappings, hostage taking, suicide bombings, widespread military combat operations, landmines, and terrorist and insurgent attacks
, including attacks using vehicle-borne, magnetic, or other improvised explosive devices (IEDs), suicide vests, and grenades.

Terrorist and insurgent groups continue planning and executing attacks in Afghanistan. These attacks occur with little or no warning, and have targeted official Afghan and U.S. government convoys and facilities, local government buildings, foreign embassies, military installations, commercial entities, non-governmental organization (NGO) offices, hospitals, residential compounds, tourist locations, transportation hubs, public gatherings, markets and shopping areas, places of worship, restaurants, hotels, universities, airports, schools, gymnasiums, and other locations frequented by U.S. citizens and other foreign nationals.

The U.S. Embassy’s ability to provide routine and emergency services to U.S. citizens in Afghanistan is severely limited, particularly outside of Kabul. Evacuation options from Afghanistan are extremely limited due to the lack of infrastructure, geographic constraints, and the volatile security situation.

US embassy in Afghanistan in April:

Commercial flight options from Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) remain available and the U.S. Embassy strongly suggests that U.S. citizens make plans to leave Afghanistan as soon as possible. Given the security conditions and reduced staffing, the Embassy’s ability to assist U.S. citizens in Afghanistan is extremely limited.

    Actions to Take:

    • Make plans to depart Afghanistan by commercial airlines
    • Have evacuation plans that do not rely on U.S. government assistance

    Good question.

I can understand her wanting to be with her husband, but I think I would tell my wife to stay where she was so I wouldn't have to add her safety to my concerns. He's probably got a full plate already.
