So long store short I’m in auto sales and walk a lot in all conditions. I go though your typical $100 dress shoe in about 3 to 4 months. I have had the usual Bostonians, Johnson and Murphy, Clark’s, born, etc. so have held up better then others but at the end of the day they all kind of suck. Looking at Allen Edmonds right now and just wanted to see if anyone here has any first hand knowledge of them. I like the fact they are recraftable and made here in the USA. Also as crazy as it sounds Carlos Santana has some pretty nice looking dress shoes that were a kickstarter they look nice but just not sure. 0 reviews online about them.

Yes that is a company that I have heard good things about too. There is an outlet mall close by that has an ECCO store in it. Not sure if the quality there will be different. I know a lot of outlets make cheaper goods or outsource the work to other then the normal places.

If you wear them every day, look into getting 2 pairs and rotating them. Letting leather shoes dry 24 hours between uses greatly extends their life.

^ This!! I wore dress shoes throughout my career. I made it a point to never wear the same pair two days in a row. My shoes lasted a long time. Mostly bought Florsheims.

chef, did you check out those dress shoes from Docker's (The Trustee Oxford)?

I have several pair (shoes are like guns, find what you like, pair multiple copies) and they are comfy for standing on your feet all day and are cut wide for my rectangular feet (my feet suck at running, but am a fish in the pool).

You can get them at Macy's and Kohl's.

Thanks for the ideas. I will checkout shoebank.com. I have just been looking at Zappos but it looks like you can buy 2nds from AE themselves for a fraction of the cost too.

Depending on your size, it can be hit or miss on the factory seconds. Good luck to you.

Just go ahead and buy Allen Edmonds, the factory seconds are good to me but thats because I wear a 10.5 EEE , I only paid $196 for these with the 25% discount for LEO, Vets and Students. Hit up the AE store in the Keystone Mall to get a feel for what you like and remember the shoes look much better in real life than on the Allen Edmonds website (they really should fire their photographer)

Hey Dean, those look nice. I think this weekend I am going to truck up to Chicago. They have a store there and I can hopefully just try on a few. I am a little concerned about getting the right size. Looks like there is a$25 fee for restocking if I need to send them back and that would just **** me off
