A serious 'dope' question. Who uses?

Thanks for all of the responses. I know this is a huge issue. What will our progeny think of us? Heck, they may be ruled by cartels and radicals who are funded by drug sales. It just makes me sad. Our friend told us (admittedly a one sided story) about her ex, and it was incredible. He stole from her, her parents, his friends, and ??? just to get high. Anyway, thanks for not trolling and giving us some good responses.

It's likely that some of the people you would never suspect of using do, at least on an occasional/recreational level. Using cocaine doesn't mean someone has to be a junkie and there are some who can occasionally use heroin or even meth without losing control.

Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of people smoke marijuana and lots of their friends do who they'd never guess do too.

Heard a radio interview the other day - with a pain specialist MD in KY - just after a report about how many folks in KY had been/are prescribed pain medication (opiates) in the past. Staggeringly high number.

Anyhow - this guy was talking about the high correlation between heroin use and pain pills. That basically if you couldn't get one - you'd seek the other. And the crack-down on one would push those to seek the other.

But the main thing I caught from this interview was his statement that, most times, folks' work/job was the last to be affected and suffer. Makes sense, too, because generally it's that job that affords them their habit.

I've had family that have asked similar questions so I take them to random places to sit and watch people. After a while you too can be an expert in profiling dirtbags. It make no difference on where you live - they are everywhere.

These people are usually paranoid and oblivious - all at the same time.

Serviced the refrigeration and A/C systems in the 7-11's (now double 8's) for some time. Day or night the scene changes very little. No one else at the company would go to any of them at night for fear of their life. They knew I carry and actually enjoyed messing with the local idiots. After a while I became known and was left alone by the regulars who knew I was not afraid of them and why. The floaters or wanderer's were a real problem. They were so freaking high as to be un-aware I had a 1911 in my hand when directing them to get out of my personal space or away from my truck/tools. Groups of teens are un-predictable and spoiling for a fight. Drugs are sold and used openly.
To the OP, if you want to see this side of life take a journey after dark to 25th & Sherman or 46th and College. Hang out in the lot or the alley and just watch.
Oh, do not go alone or un-armed.

I don't do drugs or smoke pot. I know a few people who smoke pot. We go caving regularly and I don't trust many people on rope. These people are some of the only folks I would trust in those situations. They are druggies in my opinion but have never done me or anyone I love any harm.

My wife and I had a serious conversation about dope usage (in this case, cocaine) after a friend of ours left her husband because he'd spent thousands on the drug, lied, etc.

But, my question is this: Who is using all this stuff? Who is giving their life savings to cartels? I know that we may be incredibly naive but we couldn't think of anyone else we knew who used illegal drugs (with a caveat to come). We have friends who drink alcohol and a few who 'say' they smoke marijuana.

So: tons of (that's right, Tons) of cocaine, heroin, meth, oxy-whatever, ...are coming into the U.S.A.

I'm trying to be serious and would appreciate if the Trolls would go elsewhere. I guess my question is: 'Is the whole country stoned and my wife and I are just too stupid to recognize it"?

pretty sure all of Washington DC is pretty stoned! almost all of California, Not sure, but Chris Christie is eating way to many twinkies and ho-ho's to not be stoned, and the 52% who voted for Obama has to be on crack.
