My RIA 9mm GI on top.
Runs just as good as any other handgun I've purchased. Very accurate actually.

You run what you like "But".................

    To me, a 9mm 1911 is like buying a new Camaro with a V-6

No knock on the round but it is just Blasphemy to the alter of the all mighty JMB......................:):

I agree with you a 1911 should only be chambered in 45acp. I will only own a 45acp 1911. But have to admit after shooting AllenM 9mm Fusion 1911 a month ago and the 2011 9mm he is building right now over the weekend the 9mm versions are fun.

Sticking with one caliber does simplify things. I assume those are all 9's?

I'm a big fam of the 9mm. I reload and live in an apt, so it makes it much easier space wise.
Just added a p226 mk25 to the collection last month also. Absolutely adore it!

Maybe I'm :horse:, but when someone says 1911 and 9mm, I think Hi-Power. And with that said, we can still say God bless JMB.

The 1911 in 9mm is one of the easiest shooting pistols a person could ever lay their hands on. I was always a big Hi Power fan, but I have really come to love my SW1911 in 9mm.

Kinda new at the 1911's. It never even entered my mind to buy one in 9mm. I mean why?

Because not everyone loves what everyone else does.
I have nothing against 45acp at all. I just like 9mm better. I also happen to like the nostalgia of a 1911, so why not eat the cake too?
That's the great thing about guns... you can always get exactly what you want... and they are very manly :)

Had a few Hi-Powers in my day. Straight shooters, reliable. Everything you expect from a JMB design. I am just a recoil junky I guess.

Partyboy....I shot the 2011 AllenM built and with his loads it was a hoot to shoot. But really, it is a 2011 and no blasphemy involved in doing a 9mm with that platform.

Really guy's....shoot what you like and can afford.

I love the 1911 platform, I own mostly .45acp versions, but I also have a couple 9mm's, and a couple others in different calibers. I prefer .45, but I like the platform enough to not limit myself to one caliber.

I own 1911s in .22, .38 Super, 10mm and .45 ACP. Most are Colt, several are Kimbers and one is a Fusion. The 2 times I've owned a 9mm Commander I stuck a .38 Super barrel in it and moved on. I really like the .38 Super in a 1911. Since 1911s in 9mm is all the rage now I should try one out, especially since I shoot a lot of Hi Powers and CZ75s. I've shot AllenMs older 9mm but not his newest creation. Knowing him I know it will shoot great!

Well, after reading this thread again I am forced to admit that I have a 1911 in .22 Lr.
I use it as a teaching tool when I take my sister/SIL/ MIL/and young folks to the range. GSG with threaded barrel and a Burris Fast fire on it. It is a great tool to orient newbies to a semi-auto platform and I enjoy it sometimes myself. Suppressed it is really kind of fun.
    JMB, I am sorry......well, just a little.

There is a thriving market for them.

I am not knocking what an individual wants to run (caliber) I have just been using .45 ACP since the age of 12. Anything less is, well, not worthy.....:):

Not gonna argue with the .45acp as it's my favorite rnd in the 1911 but I do like the .38 super a lot as well. You know how it is...being the little brother from JMB and all. Must be that history thingy
