7-30 Waters Deer legal in Indiana?

Have an opportunity to buy a 10 inch barrel for my Contender in 7-30 waters and was wondering about the legality of using this for whitetails. I'm not real familiar with this round and am looking for opinions. Mostly I want to carry it with me when turkey hunting cause I could've had around 7 coyotes this year if I'd been able to reach out to around 100 yards. Hoping it could also be used in the deer blind. Thoughts?

yes legal, think the waters is based on the 30-30 case.

It's NOT legal out of a rifle. Not IN deer legal at all.

Case length on the 7-30 Waters is 2.04"

Out of a pistol, as long as the barrel is 4.00" or longer...go for it.

Or you can hunt squirrels with it out of a rifle.

ETA: The case-length restrictions for hunting deer with rifles here in IN are VERY easy to find, by the way...

Get it. The 7-30 is one of the best rounds in the tender for deer. Pistol only in Indiana.

Thanks for all the help. I agree the 14 inch barrel would be better, but the cheap price was on a 10 inch. Looks like i need to gather up my benjamins. Again thanks to all who contributed.

thanks for the link to dnr. Im from Va. and didnt know regular rifle rounds were illegal in Indiana for deer hunting. Wanted to come there this year...

Come on over anyhow! Borrow a firearm, or bring your shotgun. Surely a VA boy has a shotgun, eh?

I'm not at all sure how the IDNR handles out-of-staters + deer tags.
