Lacks any sign of context... how many were later stolen? How many passed through an FFL afterwards?

Edit: How many TOTAL Police trade-ins were transferred from departments since 2006? What's a comparison with used firearms going through an FFL?
The AFT skews conclusions to scare. For example, "used in crimes" even includes instances where a gun is confiscated from someone suspected of possessing evil weed. They want us all to think of the very worse crimes.

And I doubt there even needs to be a conviction to qualify.

So maybe the title should have been "52,529 guns once owned by police have been later confiscated by police".

Since 2006 as well. Over 18 years.

Would have been more honest to give the stats just for the last year.

To the article I say, “so what?”

How many vehicles once owned by PD’s were used in crimes?

How many knives used in crimes were once owned by restaurants?

So what? Who cares? Means nothing.
