Is the Judge a specific design that allows it to interchange 410 shells and .45LC rounds ,or is this universal in all firearms designed for either caliber?

Specific. Under no circumstances should one ever try to fire a .45 Colt in a .410 chambered firearm unless it is specifically designed for it.

(thread makes me want to get out the ol' M6 scout, wish it could shoot .45LC)

I beleive the answer is no for several reasons. First, a .45 Colt round shouldn't even chamber, though maybe in some older guns it will. The nominal bore of a .410 shotgun is, well, .410". This is much less than 0.452" of the LC bullet.

So, you may be able to chamber a .45 round in a .410 shotgun and, assuming the lead is soft enough, the powder charge is low enough, and the barrel is strong enough with little to no choke, you may not blow the gun up.

And the opposite should hold true, because and .454 cylinder wouldn't be long enough for a .410 shell?
