    found a box of .38 Super Auto laying around.. can i run it through my Colt Trooper MkIII?

    I know i can run .357 Mag and .38 Spcl, but what about this .38 Super Auto?

    38 Super is a semi-automatic pistol round. (formerly called the Super 38...)

    It's generally a rather bad idea to shoot it through a revolver due to fitment concerns.

    However, to muddy the waters a little bit, I'm sure there are a few revolvers out there that could fire it, provided that moon-clips or half-moons are used to load the ammo into the cylinder.

    Since .38 super ammo is expensive, I would see if you can find a guy with a .38 Super pistol and have him trade you some good .38 revolver ammo. If I owned a Super, I would trade you .38 specials for .38 supers all day long. Post a thread offering to trade, I am sure someone can really use it.

    No. 38 Super is a rimless semi auto round with a bullet diameter of .355. I've never heard of any revolver firing it, even with moon clips, but anything is possible I suppose. :twocents:
