On the bright side you shoot way better from a rear than me. It is so unnatural and totally screws me up
:lmfao:I think you meant to say, "from a rest than me."
I can't quit laughing at other possible interpretations.
Those beefy paws you have are quite the issue with texting on a tiny keyboard, unless your dictation is as mine is.

My bud has sent me pics of half inch and less groups from his .22lr.

    At 100 yards.

    It aint a cheapy

For me a target gun has to do 5 under .5 at 50 yards. That 100 yard stuff is proly outside of my skills and wallet.

Wow some of the best groups I have seen you post on here! Yeah AutoMatch is not the most consistent lot to lot ammo I have used. Several years ago had a lot that shot great in a 22/45 , including one of the best targets I had ever fired. The next lot fired like some kind of different ammo entirely with marginal accuracy. I'll have to break out my Charger again sometime!

The first few boxes I bought shot great in my MKII, and then it seems like it's not as good anymore like you say.

I recently picked up this used pistol (Taurus TX22 Competition SCR) for $325 and added a $58 red dot.

Took it to the range to zero the dot and these were my best groups from a rest.

I love mine and it is a favorite range gun. I keep the compensator off though because I dislike cleaning it. Yeah, just a couple of
pipe cleaners but I still don't like it. The ports on my Browning trap gun are also a PITA.

I like the added front weight. 2 q-tips after a quick spray of cleaner and its done

I couldn't wait until I shot this at the range to post about it. :rockwoot:
This gun was not even on my radar.
I never see these for sale & online it can get really pricey in a hurry.

I did go online & found a some in the $400 - $1200 range, with those in the $800 range getting my attention.
I didn't mind buying one with wear, as long as it shot well.
    I can't afford the $2500 - $3000 pretty ones. :lmfao:

I worked for an entire week trying to get a time to meet with this busy LEO.
He had taken it on trade the day before I contacted him.
    Not an impressive profile. :dunno:

His original ad said, "it appears to have a low round count."
My thought was, Bull**** :bash:, when he sent pics.
Person using it as trade toward a pick up, told him it was a $1500 gun. :wallbash: :ugh:
His description of it did not line up with the pics he sent me, so I gave some reality feedback.
He changed his ad after my input to a more apt description
"Decent shape, 6" barrel, THIS IS NOT IN NEW CONDITION.
    It has been fired.
    Some slight imperfections.
    Barrel is in good shape."
Note: I had to laugh since it was a 50 yr. old gun, obviously it wasn't in new condition & obviously it had been fired, with "some slight imperfections" as a sellers classical understatement! :bash:

I told him I was still interested, but I would need to do a function check.
I put 4 mags of ammo through it.
I only had a tree to try to prop my hand against, but it cycled smoothly.
No issues in 40 rds. using CCI SV.
    My demands are minimal.
Getting 5/5 rds inside 1.75" circles at 21' is acceptable with a non. :oldwise:
I can't even see where I'm hitting at 30'.

The pic that shows the worst of it:
    - left side of barrel & front sight: rust .
    Bore did look good.
A light application using "Flitz" will clean it up a bit.
    (Pics were before that)
A member put me onto it years ago & I've been grateful. :ingo:
    Description:
Absolutely non-abrasive polish for all metals, fiberglass and most hard plastics.
    Removes corrosion, tarnish and discolorations.
Brings finishes up to superb brightness, but its greatest asset in the gunshop is the ability to remove surface rust from blued finishes without damaging the bluing underneath.
Leaves a protective film that resists further rust, corrosion, etc., for up to six months.
    Contains no acids.

Owner had put some oil on the slide.
I put a thin oil on both adjustment screws on rear sights before shooting, then a thicker oil (Lucas Gun Oil) since it was soaking it up.

It might not be beautiful but it's a pretty nice old gun. I'll bet it will cut a ragged hole at 7 yards.

1st range day for my "new" Colt Woodsman Match Target Gen 3, 1973.
    200 issue free rounds :rockwoot:
    except,
    the windage screw broke. :wallbash:

I had been turning the windage screw trying to get the POI over to the left so as to center on the bullseye, but it wasn't moving POI over to the left even though screw was turning. :crying:
That should have been my first clue. :spend:
I had put drops of thin then thicker oil on both the elevation & windage screw just so something like this would not happen. :nono:
Next thing I knew it had snapped in two with the flathead screw laying on the floor. :ugh:
I just had to buy a 50 yr old gun.
Anyone have advice about replacing the windage screw (getting broken piece out will be an issue)
    or
knows whether the entire rear sight must be replaced? :coffee:

Update: I just got through ordering a windage screw from Numrich Gun Parts.
However, there are two different rear sights, Accro & Elliason & I have the Elliason.
Had no idea of different rear sights when I ordered a windage screw, but when I went back & checked,
    it was the Elliason. :)
I wanted to order the windage spring as well but it wasn't available.
Don't know whether the spring is still there or bad, which is the reason it wasn't responsive.

I had shot at eleven 3/4" red dot circles adjusting the height & trying to adjust the windage.
I went ahead & shot 2 pages of 1.75" circles using "Kentucky windage." :dunno:

Below are 7/11 of the 3/4" red dot circles at 15' I used to try to dial in rear sights.
    5 rds each red dot.
    All targets CCI SV today.

2nd range time with the Colt Woodsman Match Target Gen 3, 1973.
Last week the windage screw broke in two.
I ordered another, but need to give it to a gunsmith to find out if they can get the rest of the screw out of the windage adjustment & if there is anything else missing, like a spring.

So, it is like shooting a pistol with rear fixed sights for now.
POI is about 1.5" +/- to the right, whether it is 21' or 30'.

Eley Standard ammo at 21' on 1.75" cirlces.
Got 5/5, 10 of 17 circles, with 1 cloverleaf (2nd row last circle).

Last range day with the SW 422 6" barrel from the 1990s. :crying:
I picked up its 422 variant (2206 stainless steel with rear adjustable sights & 6" barrel) just days after buying the 422, so I knew its days were numbered. :nono:
When I get around to it I'll list it since I have to make room in the safe for some higher end .22LRs lately. :spend:
I like the feel of it & it had very little prior use, so someone will get a nice piece, which is why I bought it to begin with.
It has a unique design feature where the barrel resided in a low position in the frame just above the trigger guard. The barrel is non-moving and fixed to the frame.
Just a shooter for me, but b/c of the design feature, a SW collector might like it.

Eley Standard ammo on 1.75" circles.
    21' on row 1 & 2.
    15' on row 3.
30' on row 4. I don't normally shoot non optic guns at 30' since I can barely see at 30'. :ugh:
Since POI is 1-2" low, it does need the shorter front sight, which I think came with it, not sure.

This was S&W 422 series day. :rockwoot:
I am going to sell 2 of these variants, so I wanted to have a last range day.

1987-1996 were the production years, so not many are even aware of the 422 model series. :coffee:
    It is a "sleeper."
I bought my 1st 422 yrs ago b/c I'd enjoyed other older SW models.

I had another target at 21' on 3.75" circles but forgot to take a pic of it. :ugh:
Below is a target using the larger 5.75" circles b/c I wanted to see how these would shoot at 30'.
I normally limit Shooting my non optics guns to 21' on 1.75" circles.

Used Aguila Super Extra SV, 40 grain, SLN on 5.75" circles at 30'.
Top row with the basic model 422 with a 6" barrel.
Middle row with 2214 model with a 3" barrel.
Bottom row with the 2206 model with 6" barrel, SS & rear adjustable sights.
I'm amazed that the grouping are so similar with the top right circle having the best group.

I've had 2 or 3 of the TX
    &
even the TX Competition that I picked up from Zackcz, which was fun.
I would have kept it, but the Browning Buckmarks I had were treating me better.
