Need feedback, was looking for a new .22 for my 12 year old son and I to tink around with. Have been looking at the Sig 522, M&P 15-22, and the Keltec su-22. Who has one of these that can tell me which way to go?

I'm in agreement with OneBadV8, the Ruger 10/22 has enough aftermarket stuff that you could make a "fun" or "tactical" .22, but the Sig 522's are pretty awesome as well. I've played with one but don't own one. Other than my 10/22, I do also own one of the H&K MP5 .22s, and it's a blast to shoot! I think if you went with the Ruger, Smith, H&K or Sig, you would do great, it just really depends on what kind of money you wanna drop!

M&P15-22 with out a doubt for an AR15 style. I have a Sig 522, and it is really nive and well made. The only thing I don't like about it is it.s not front sight friendly. In my case I just put a scope on it, and it is plenty accurate. If you want to shoot with irons this is not the rifle for you.

Price wise the 10-22. As mentioned tons of after market accessories. Good value and it looks like a .22 :-)

My step father purchased a M&P 15-22 and I was going to, but then I ran into a Ruger 10-22 Tactical with Tapco stock. I saved about 200 bucks and have been adding goodies to that. Plus I can get the same capacity for it as well and even higher if desired.

Now that I've had it and having fired both rifles, I'd not waste money buying the 15-22 and go the 10-22 route and upgrade on it.
    My opinion, YMMV

I've not had any problems out of my cheapo keltec SU-22 after 2000+ rounds. Works great when kept clean. Also like the plentiful magazine selection.
