I know about the engine problems, but those seemed to be centered around the 03-05 models so I figure the 2006 should be as good of a year as any for the diesel powered F-350. Any of you guys out there have experience with the 2006 6.0L F-350? Did you have any problems out of it? I'm looking at one with 150k miles on it. Anything in particular I should look at when I inspect it?

My son has an 04 that he bought last year that only had 50k on it. He had new headstuds, bigger turbo, injectors, exhaust, programmer etc, etc. I must say, it is one bad motha and a whole lot of fun to drive! The dang thing sounds like a jet engine!

I had one as a company truck in 2009. One ton 4 door cab with over 100,000 miles. Pulling a dual axle trailer with 2500 lbs of product and that powerful engine never felt labored. Even at 85 plus mph on Texas highways, it had plenty of power. The 100 plus degree heat did not seem to bother it. The earlier 7.3 liter was said to be a better engine, and the old company truck had one with well over 300,000 miles.

If it is 4 wheel drive it will take 40 acres to turn around.

6 years old with 150 would be on the high end of the mileage when I am looking at trucks.

I have to get a car/truck made in the last seven years or else I can't get financed. The 06 models seem to have the least problems.

What happened to all the option money you were making?

    Buy a beater!!!!!!!!

Save your money till you save enough to pay cash for a older cherry one with a 7.3.

    Mosin,

    I have owned both a 7.3 and an 06 6.0...

I wish I had not traded the 6.0 off, as it would work circles around the 7.3. Both engines were no mods. Fuel economy was far better out of the 6.0. 06 and after had a sharper turning front axle set up that trucks prior to it. My 06 extended cab would out turn my 97 Standard Cab easily.

My only recommendation is to do the EGR delete thing. But, I would tell you to do that on either motor...

Nothing like banking $1600 on a Saturday on one truck in less than 12 hours...

    That's funny...
I've seen just as many 7.3L open and laying out as I've seen 6.0L opened up. I make just as much off of the 7.3L as I do off of the 6.0L, as I do off of the Cummings...

I'll admit the first couple of years of the 6.0L were ugly, but so were the first years of the 7.3L. So were the first couple of years of the Cummings...

Anyone here old enough to remember when Ford tossed the turbo on them?!
