All of the above are true. Springfield EMP, STI's (held a .40 spartan the other day, felt just like a regular .45 1911) and the Sigs I do admire so much have also introduced a .40 cal. Told myself I would like to have it, but I can't justify it.

I'll stick to my 1911 Sig for .45, and the Glock 23 (that will finally be here Monday) for .40

Best of luck to your friend! I'd keep in mind that both the STI Spartan .40 I held the other day and the Sig are commander, maybe government sized 1911's while the EMP by Springfield is a Subcompact

I had a Kimber on here in 40. Total spontaneous buy. Same capacity as 45 though, so I let it go. I couldn't justify carrying a gun in 40 with the same capacity as the similar gun in 45. They only gun that intrigues me is the EMP in 40. I had an EMP 9 but once again it only held 9+1 while the 40 is 8+1.

My friend is interested in a 1911 but he wants to stay just shooting .40 for logistical reasons. Who makes em and at what price

I just got an STI Eagle 6" in 40 and I really am pleased with it. Thet also have several in 5". Check out Dawson Precision if you are in to high capacity style 1911's (2011's)
