I agree with the get a good 1911. I purchased a Springfield Range Officer as my first 1911. I shot great right out of the box but got better after 200 rounds. I had Churchmouse do a trigger job on it and wow what a difference it made.
It is a sickness though. I bought one and within six months I now have three. Two Springfield's and one Colt

Seriously, there are a few mid range 1911's you can look at. Save some money or as SkullDaddy said....sell off some stuff.
Every person I know with an RIA likes them, shoots them but I have worked on everyone of them and their friends guns as well. They are OK for the money but they will let you down once you have shot a good Ruger/S&W/Springer etc.
