Ok, well, I've been on board with the whole 1911 thing for a couple of months now.

I took my new Kimber to the range this morning and the wife shot it too.

    And guess what.....

Yep, she likes it better than her Glock 19.

She wants to see about getting a 1911 herself, but it would most likely be a 4" 9mm version.

Looks like the Kimber Aegis would be one option in that configuration.

    Anyone have other suggestions?

Try to get your hands on an Ultra CDP II. My 15 year old daughter shoots it like Annie Oakley. Very soft shooting for a .45. I shot a Glock 26 a couple of weeks ago. I told the guy who had it that my Kimber has less perceived recoil. He said I was full of it, till he shot it:D Then he said how is that possible? They are pricey little guns IMHO, worth it.

The Kimber Ageis is what my wife went with. She really likes it and its a great little gun. I also got a deal on a Kimber full size 9 mm which once she got used to the weight she likes it better because the recoil is less

Take a look at the Springfield emp. I LOVE mine. My mother and wife shoot it with ease. My mom carries a 45 though sometime.....:dunno:

I am taking the wife shooting this week I am excited to see how she likes the Kimber ultra carry II. It would be a solid option for your wife, but its a 3" barrel.

Any advice on a 1911 for her?

    Yep. Take her shopping.

Get her hands on as many different barrel lengths/frame sizes as you can. Grips, too (standards, slims... checkered, smooth...)
See which sights she finds easiest to pick up.
Little things like grip safety speed bumps vs stock are a big deal to some people the way the gun feels in hand...as well as checkering on the front strap or not.

Just remember, the smaller & lighter you go, the more the perceived recoil.
    Aluminum is lighter than steel.

    Have fun shopping.
