How about a Bersa Thunder 380cc for concealed carry (under $300) which leaves $700 or so for a nice 1911. I paid $560 last summer for a NIB Springfield MilSpec. $700 also buys a decent CZ, but in 9mm. You should be able to find a nice 1911 for around $700 though. I bought a brand new Kimber a while back for $780. A Bersa 45UC is typically around $450 and comes with a rail. I think $700 would buy a railed CZ 75 SP01.

Lots of choices for that kind of money.

As some of you know, Ive been wanting a 1911 in the $1000 and above range. But decided that I would like two handguns instead. I would like a HD pistol (.45) and another for CC when I recieve my LTCH. Ive been looking around at the XD and CZ. Not a GLOCK fan! I prefer steel pistols but right now Im open to almost anything. So I have $1000 to spend for two pistols (taxes seperate).

Commander sized 1911. You would have the .45 caliber you're wanting for HD, plus it would be easier to conceal than a full size 1911. Problem solved.

Decision decisions. If im just going to buy one 1911, I would like it to have a girlfriend rail. But under $1000?

SW1911, Sig 1911 commander, or Ruger 1911. Decided that no rail needed. Shotgun will have a light anyways. Didn't think it would be this much of a dilemma.

Went to several LGS and none had 1911s in 45. Except gandermountain had a few. The one the caught my eye was the Sig 1911 fastback. Black with rosewood grips and it was a bobtail. They are asking $1099. Also saw a xd45 two tone for $610 new at another shop. The main LGS here was closed by time I got there. Will have to take a look there tomorrow. Any thoughts on the sig fastback?

If I were you I'd get an Xd 45 tactical and an xd compact service in whatever caliber you are most comfortable carrying. Xd is a reliable weapon with added grip safety which I personally like better for carrying and it feels more like a 1911 than any other plastic gun.
