      Shooting Bench (portable)

My actual field position is the bench I'm shooting from. I'm trying to hit a water bottle at 100 yards, not unscrewing the cap from 200.

      Shooting Bench (portable)

I have seen a couple that guys have taken out there. One had nice folding legs. Looks like he had a cabinet shop at home with the quality of it. Ive also seen the fold up $100 versions online. I went out last week to try a $30 plastic folding table, but the place was full.

What's your preference? SA, SA/DA, or DA?

That is an excellent point. I am currently shooting for fun, but once I am experienced, intend to cross over to defense. I went a lot of years without a defense weapon, and don't think that just because I purchased one that it automatically becomes a defense mechanism. All of my units are locked...

Nice information guys, all of you. I like the differences of opinion, which is exactly what I was looking for.

      Shooting Bench (portable)

What kind of bench set up do you take to the range when there's no feasible bench there? I belong to a private club, and there's not much there as far as benches. There's a 200 yard range with a fixed backstop, so anything 25-200 yards is established by where you park along the firing line...

What's your preference? SA, SA/DA, or DA?

Ive been doing that with my 1911's. Another good reason to pick up the Beretta. Thank you

What's your preference? SA, SA/DA, or DA?

Lots of great info guys. Thank you. My concern was, as pointed out, wasting my first shot until it becomes a familiar action. Interesting reading that forcing yourself to the double action could make you a better shooter in SA. I have tried a few SA/DA models, like the M&P, and XDS, and a...

      S&W E Series 1911, Sig TTT 1911, Springfield M1A, Stag Arms AR-15 say hello!

I have the rail version as well. The stainless one. Thanks all for the welcome!

What's your preference? SA, SA/DA, or DA?

I am an avid fan of the 1911. I favor the single action trigger. I also like the look and feel of say, a Beretta 92FS, but don't care for the initial double action trigger pull. Do any of you that favor the 1911 as well, tend to stay with that style? I understand the concept of the longer...

      S&W E Series 1911, Sig TTT 1911, Springfield M1A, Stag Arms AR-15 say hello!

Myself and my family would like to say "hello" to fellow Indiana Gun Owners. I am fairly new to the hobby/sport of gun ownership. I anticipate that I will increase my knowledge by reading the informative posts within, and want to thank those that keep the site up and running.

      What's Your Next Handgun...and why?

I've been shopping for one of these. Have not held one yet. Hoping it's bigger than the LC9s, I'm sure it is. Beretta 92FS Compact Inox.

      Scope or Spotting Scope?

I hadn't given that any thought Bubba, but it makes good sense. Put it where I want, then go see if it went there. Someone mentioned camera, so I went looking for that idea as well. Anyone use or know about the Bulllseye camera? That looks kinda cool. Not very old school, but might have a place...

      Scope or Spotting Scope?

Ok, now I understand a bit more. I was shooting an AR at around 100-150 yards. My cheap ($150) BSA 6-24X40 was allowing me to see most holes in paper. I just purchased an M1A Loaded Stainless, ($1800). My range only goes to 200 yards. I would like to sight in at that distance, and see where I...

      Scope or Spotting Scope?

Thanks for that info. I am nowhere near the level you guys are. Windage, elevation, books? I'm trying to see if I hit a big pumpkin, not putting 5 shots thru the same hole. A $1000 spotting scope? I must be in the wrong forum. Is there a novice area? I feel like I asked a brain surgeon for a...

      Scope or Spotting Scope?

Ok, so I see a lot of people using what I would consider lower magnification scopes shooting longer distances. When shooting distances over say, 100-300 yards, are you folks using your scope to identify your hit marks, or are you using a spotting scope to see where you hit? I mean, I can see the...
