      Any Jeepers in here?

That sucker looks too pretty and expensive for trails.

So... Did you go try any classes?

Foot Sweeps and Trips for Self Defense (AKA In The Streets)?

There's a lot we can learn from the 80s.

Sniper's Hide - Great training video from back in the day

I want this guy's job. That looks like a good time. It's a good lesson from both sides of the muzzle.

I just saw this post by Shivworks and this (hand control) is an example of the things you have to consider when taking sport training into tjis context.

If you can lift, you could train martial arts. Maybe you can't be a competitive athlete (I can't either), but you can get on the mat and learn. I'm about as out of shape as it gets and I do it.

Thanks. I changed direction a couple of times while writing. I think there's a lot of things that could be discussed on these topics. The real question is, when are you going to find a gym and get on the mat?

      ShivWorks

This is a broad question and there's a few directions I want to go with it. I'm not sure how this will turn out. Where should you start as far as taking a Shivworks class, or learning to fight generally? It is not a requirement to be fit or know how to fight to sign up for a Shivworks class...

Why Was Hip Shooting Ever a Thing?

I imagine that any consistent body position, if practiced enough, could be used to shoot relatively accurately inside 10 yards. Mileage will vary based on the shooter's bodily awareness. I bet most of you well-practiced sighted shooter's can look right over the gun at the target and make...

      First Personal Gun Training

I haven't kept up with who is teaching what, but some things you should probably understand before carrying might be: The legal aspect of using force in self defense. The legal aspects of carrying the gun generally. The fundamentals of marksmanship and some proficiency with them. And most...

Foot Sweeps and Trips for Self Defense (AKA In The Streets)?

It looks like a perfectly applicable comment to me. Being skilled and being fit are not mutually exclusive, and both are important. If you want to maximize your odds, you'll spend plenty of time on both. People who are getting paid to fight certainly do. There are plenty of scenarios where size...

If you need someone to work through the material with, you can shoot me a message. I could probably find some time on a weekend.

      ACE VR shooting

My GFs Son has an Oculus something-or-other VR headset. I don't know any of the details. I need to do some research. It if it would work I might have to get in on this.

Foot Sweeps and Trips for Self Defense (AKA In The Streets)?

More quickly than I would like. Definitely more quickly than I used to. I don't know if it's age, or having had Covid, or just not being in as good a shape. Whatever it is, or maybe combination of things, I am not in the condition I used to be.

      ACE VR shooting

I would guess that, if your eyes are well trained, most pistols are similar enough that its not as big a factor moving form pistol to pistol. I would think the difference between two real pistols might not be as big as a real pistol vs a sensor that relates that position to a screen strapped...

Do you practice these with a buddy at home?

Foot Sweeps and Trips for Self Defense (AKA In The Streets)?

Being strong and physically fit is a significant factor, and not one that is focused on enough on forums like this. It's something I fail at more than succeed. It's probably the place I could get the most benefit if I focused the time on it. Moreso than learning foot sweeps, to be honest.
