I thought the 50 thing was ridiculous at first too, but actually trying to earn it the right way has showed me that this is a really nice and helpful forum in a lot of different areas. It probably does greatly limit the traffic on classifieds (maybe the point?). However, I usually tend to like...
Part of this is I'm trying to minimize how many types of components, dies, etc. And part of it is I want a round that has a little less sharp of recoil but still full power for sitting out of a subcompact. I'm not sure if this makes much difference on recoil.
Kirk, nice list. But do we really want to mandate firearm ownership? I like the idea of incentives, especially for carry. But I don't want anyone telling me I have to buy something. Like health insurance, for insurance. . .
If we did that would we be better off mandating military or guard...
It never hurts to ask on a site like CL! I tend to offer 50-60% of asking as a starting point. If they're asking way too much I usually assume they're too proud of their stuff and don't bother. A lot of it depends in what kind of items your taking about too cars guns appliances electronics all...
That's a good read. Thanks. I will still probably be loading up some of these, but likely won't use them for defense. Won't be loading up until later this winter for spring testing, but will report back results. Any more info/experience still appreciated.
I have some 158 gn cast flat points and a Lee mold to make more. This is a little large for 9mm but I know some make subsonic loads with it. Any experience with this?
Could I expect significantly lower recoil?
Feed problems likely?
How about for defense? Any load data for HS-6?
Any thoughts on whether it gives bad guys something to shoot at? I was advised once not to have one on my weapon but hold the flashlight away from my person. So if someone just shoots at the light its not as big a risk. I was never sure about this.
Id recommend doing it right on a lathe with single point tooling as well if you ever plan suppressor or brake as said above. Be sure to check bore concentricity, not just with the outside of the barrel.
Looks like a wealth of info over there! Thanks!
Regarding the adhesives they create quite strong weld joints rather than just sticking to the surface. I only mention it because it seems that rivets are put in tension in this application rather than sheer, which they handle better. I do...
I picked up a WF-501b on ebay for about $9 with an XM-L2 LED. Uses one 18650. Stupid bright. And the XM-L2 is about as efficient an LED as you can get. Poor heat dissipation from the LED module to the outer flashlight body in this particular model, and not very fine center spot focus. But cheap...
Youch! That's expensive stuff. I'd rather not buy twice though.
OK. Another question... Have any of you guys tried bonding instead of/or supplementing rivets/eyelets/grommets? Using PVC cement, PVC primer, or THF-MEK mixtures?
I've used H110 as well. I think the powder is fine. Used indiana bullet co unchecked cast bullets. But I cleaned the lube off them and applied hi-tek coating. The bullet quality in my opinion is not quite consistent enough. Most were fine, but many had poor quality bases as cast, and I have had...
I bought a loadmaster, loaded up a few hundred rounds on it, then sold it. Definitely do not prime on it. I had multiple primers explode. Very difficult to keep everything working smoothly. Never had chains break though.
I'd like to pick up a compact double stack 9. Either a S&W M&P 9c or and XD 3" or Mod2 for EDC. Maybe a single stack 9 or even a 380 for the Mrs. I also saw a citadel 9mm 1911 that really looked like fun and was very reasonably priced. But that's probably a few years of purchases for me.
Thanks for your experience with the XD.
My other option, since I'd like to stick with a double stack is the S&W M&P 9c. I'm worried about the trigger though, as I have read a lot of negatives on it. Also curious how the size compares. But it seems like the M&P has a low bore axis, which is why...
