      Meat Grinders

Processing your own! We hang our deer for a day or two (weather/temp. permitting) Then we debone everything (If roast are wanted, cut them at that time) Next we cut tenderloins All the meat trimmings are cut in smaller pieces (typically no longer than 3"x3") We usually grind right away if the...

I have a few questions on trail cams.

Bushnell & Cuddeback are my favorite, but can get expensive. Several friends are using the Wild Game Innovation cameras. Cheaper, picture quality still fair, find them anywhere. Now's a good time to catch some activity!

      2011 Rut Report

Rattling has worked the last week...been better in the mornings. Had several 1 1/2 - 2 yr olds following does, but no heavy chasing. Did turn one w/ an estrus bleat can. Been using the "Time2Hunt" app for smart phones and it's based on moon phases. Been accurate so far!

Who plants food plots for deer/turkey??

I typically plant 5-15 acres of food plots each year. It's always a good idea to pull soil samples and drop off at the local Co-Op for analysis. Doesn't mean you'll pay alot in lime or fertilizer, but will prevent you from ruining your crop. I would evaluate topography, estimated deer/acre, and...

April may be a little late for the Walleye, but coho salmon should be near St.Joesph, MI or similar across the lake. Chicago or slightly north. Brown...

      Apache drop away

I've shot Trophy Takers, Muzzy, Mathew's and Ripcord drop away rest. The Ripcord has been the most quiet and the arrow holder is nice in the stand on a windy day. This pertains to the "Code Red" newly designed. The Mathew's drop away was the most accurate, but a touch loud and didn't secure the...

      Having a Pond Dug

I would suggest speaking w/ someone from your Indiana Soil & Water District through your county FSA office. They work w/ several companies across the state and may also shed light to aiding in finacing provided your land and plans apply. It's worth looking at Indiana Association of Soil & Water...

      Anywhere to learn animal cleaning?

Besides local processors and butcher shops I've found a lot of helpful hints in videos that are sold by manufatures of processing equipment. Some methods you would laugh at due to known easier methods and others make total sense. Below is a link to one site that offers such videos! Meat...
