We shoot at a cheap swinging steel target from that range all the time! I think it came from rural king. Never have any weird ricochets unless someone hits the post. Maybe we have just been lucky.
Good testamony!
I carried that way for a while in a sob "pouch" style holster. Aside from the back pain when sitting, it is much too vulnerable. I worry about it being snatched when it is at 3:00. At least I have some peripheral vision. 6:00 is too spooky!
I find it interesting that I stumbled across this thread while searching for information about a broken slide lock spring. I bought my first Glock last week. I've always carried an HK, but I thought it might be fun to play with a Glock. Took it out yesterday and broke the slide lock spring in...
IMHO, the best virtue of the 1500 is being able to see all the things that you didn't realize that you need. I also buy a lot of knock-off accessories. $30 is fine for a quad rail that you're just going to hang a light on anyways.
Get a deep cover holster. When I bought it, it was called "thunderwear." It's not completely uncomfortable, but it's not too bad. I have carried a full-sized 9mm pretty comfortably that way. In your case, it certainly beats the alternative.
Nah. Not really. I carry it everywhere, every day. Nothing happens. Ever. We live in boring nowheresville. Do I REALLY need it? No way. It's Thanksgiving, and my pants are going to be tight. Really tight.
We just get home, and my wife is yacking to my sister. Growl. Let Mr. pack mule...
So the verdict is that it does disassemble like a Hi-Point. Pull the slide all the way back, let it up about 1/4" and punch out the roll pin that is visible through the slide release notch in the slide. Then just lift up on the slide.
Taking out the firing pin is very simple; it falls out...
So here is what I have been able to find.
First, here is a pic.

I also found the schematic.

Hopefully it disassembles like a Hi-Point. At least you can find info about stripping those a little easier than a Stallard!
Will post the results tonight. I know everyone is...
I whole-heartedly agree with the sentiments. As far as I'm concerned, it's a really ugly paperweight. If I could figure out how to get it apart, I really wouldn't have a problem "accidently" losing the firing pin mechanism.
It hasn't been fired for about ten years, and I think it's pretty safe...
Crap! I thought it was a Jennings; it's not. It says "Stallard Arms Inc., Manfactured Mansfield, OH." It looks like it might be a step down from the Jennings..
Sorry about the confusion.
Does anybody have experience with Stallard?
It sort of looks like the profile of a ball hitch protruding up from the frame, and the bottom of the slide is grooved to accept it. If that's the button, then yes.
