I find it fascinating that there are such niches in this hobby for this kind of precision and accuracy. AND that it would even MATTER. I look forward to having conversations in the future about guns that are so elevated that physicians feel they're left out of something. :)
So, to quote some lame "as seen on TV" product, I can "...set it, and forget it!" Not that I mind fiddling with the mechanics of the gun (that's kinda cool) but I don't like the idea of having to babysit my gun and unloading each night.
Thanks for the good news!
When Taurus redesigned their compact 9mm, the pt111, they tucked a short bit of rail under the barrel. When it came out last year there were no lasers or lights to fit. Now I can find some cheaper ones that claim to work.
Has anyone successfully incorporated a laser and/or light to a pt111 g2?
That's my concern. I do carry it cocked, but didn't know if the constant tension would be injurious. The ONLY time it would get a break would be during firing or cleaning.
I found reference to this program in the February American Rifleman. It sounds like a cool "merit badge" kind of thing to encourage shooters to develop better skills.
Is this old news? Do any of you have experience with this? What are your thoughts about it?

I have one gun, a Taurus PT111 g2. It's,technically, SA/DA. but it has no external hammer so I can't de-cock it.
I've been leaving one in the chamber because it's for carry and home defense.
So if it's always cocked, am I hurting something? Should I develop better habits? Thoughts?
Thank you for the nudge toward this website. I see that there is a rather general, linear relationship between barrel length and FPS. That makes sense. I guess now it's just a matter of how deep my pockets are. Not for money, but to shove the barrel down there! :)
Ok, so I've apparently asked a question that is bigger than I supposed. Lots of variables. That's my cue to do a lot more listening than talking!
Here's what I take away: I'll probably never have the "right" gun/ammo/bad-guy scenario. But larger, faster loads may provide better results than the...
So will stuff wear down and affect performance? Or is it like breaking it in? My gun probably isn't of that performance level, I would think.
Thank you for tolerating my novice musings.

I'm new to guns. I carry a Taurus pt111 g2.
I'm considering a second. Perhaps a revolver (maybe to carry or just for home, or to get the wife involved...) (...and I admire revolvers...)
I've heard that if I get, say, a 357 mag with a stubby, 3-inch barrel, that I'm not getting what the 357...
True! True! I'm not helpless. I have mass and, therefore, momentum to work with. I can throw stuff. Being a teacher is not unlike being a parent. I can quite become someone (something) else if my kids are threatened. :)

I'm super new to this forum and guns in general. (I grew up with a bunny-hunting dad. That's my experience)
Recently while watching one of those reality, gun shows on youtube (American Guns?) the owner of the store, before delivering the guns to the customer, told his gun smiths to go ahead and...
Thanks, Bill. I knew about the state law as you recited, but was stymied when the guy so adamantly spoke that there was no law. Perhaps he was grousing to himself and taking us along for the ride.
in the meantime, I'll enjoy my rights on evenings and weekends and be a less- defended sitting...
Bill,
"vapor lock." That's a good word for it.
I, again, appreciate your vantage. You are up on a higher limb and, no doubt, had to take the climb reasonably, deliberately over time. I'm pleased to be on the lowest limb I could clamber on to. When you mention that we "differ" it may be that I...
Bill, thank you for your prompt, thoughtful reply.
I have not petitioned the school board for an exemtion as you mentioned. I've stopped quite short of calling attention to this issue at school. I fear that, to even mention the idea of carrying in school, will set into motion a polarized set of...
I'm quite new to the forum and have taught in public schools for over 25 years.
I'm new to forum-speak also, so forgive me if I'm beating a dead or wounded horse.
I have carried for less than a year, and have been quite curious concerning issues related to carrying in school in order to...
