Remington has lost my business forever.

In the case of my VTR there was nothing visually wrong with it. It just shoot like crap. And I couldn't tell the stock was weak until I put a bipod on it and felt it flex. And it's not the point. If your letting product out the door it better be right.

Remington has lost my business forever.

Got rid of the VTR two years ago. Glass was Leupold, not the problem. Tried NINE factory loads and three handloads from a guy I met at the range. He didn't understand why it wouldn't shoot either. My 14.5" AR shoots 1moa with PMC and a red dot. The best the VTR shot was 2moa. It was just a bad...

Remington has lost my business forever.

I bought a VTR in .223 and it was the worst firearm I've ever owned. Stock was crap and it wouldn't group, AT ALL! With anything. I said I was done with them but I just got a 597 HB. At least if its a turd I'm only out $220.

      Also a very good option.

      Bullet to rifle to scope

You can't put in your barrel length but velocity is the important part. And you can enter your handloads. Play with it for a while.

      Bullet to rifle to scope

Go to Nikons Spoton website, you can enter your ballistic info and it will give you a more accurate "guess" of your bullet drop. You didn't make a mistake, if you put in accurate info it will treat you right.

Awesome. I know savage uses 168gr for there accuracy testing, seems like a pretty good starting point.

      Good starting point ?

Thank you. I'll try a few a little faster and a little slower and see what happens.

Well yeah, we're going to play with those for sure! But I doubt 145gr pulled from mil-surp is going to end up being anything to write home about.

      Good starting point ?

Have you chronographed any of these loads? My reloading manual says 168gr with 44gr of Varget should be around 2800fps. Is that accurate?

      Good starting point ?

Thank you for answering my very simple question with a simple and helpful answer.

      Good starting point ?

Not asking what will work best in my gun, I'm asking where to start for a 1in10 twist 24" barrel. Everyone's 24" 1in10 barrel should like "similar" weights and velocity. As well as dislike similar loads. And to assume that by asking a question I am somehow incompetent is pretty silly. To assume...

      Yes.....Really.....

      Good starting point ?

I'm new to reloading .308 any suggestions on a good starting point for a .308 with a 24" 1in10 twist barrel? If it helps I favor Varget.

Speaking of that. I'm new to reloading .308, any suggestions on a good starting point for a 24" 1in10 twist?

Seems to be fantastic! I was really surprised it liked the mil-surp. Haven't spent much time with it or even began to develop a good load for it but based off what it's done so far I would recommend it.

Who here doesn't own an AR and why?

I didn't own one for years, never wanted one. I was an AK guy all the way. Cheaper, cheaper ammo, reliable. Then I got a great deal on a RRA at 21st Century's grand opening sale years ago and I'm hooked. Love ARs! And now the price difference is so small why not. I can reload great .223 for less...
