I'm inclined to believe you'd be better off getting rid of the HD shotgun and getting a Therapist because , so it seems to me, that you have a strange facination with shooting bad guys in the knoggin :D LOL :ar15:.
You should aim for center of mass and not the head. You'll be more likely to hit the bigger target in a stressful fight than the smaller target. That's what police departments and the military teach but yeah a face full of #6 will probably stop the fight.
A buddy of mine had the same problem with 450gr Corbon's. The overall length of the bullet was too long and jammed it up. He bought these and hasn't had anymore problems.

I'm more concerned with under penetration (birdshot) of a bad guy than over penetration (buckshot) of my walls. If the BG is standing in front of the wall with a family member behind that wall you shouldn't shoot anyway. From Jeff Cooper:

I would like to learn to shoot Skeet, Trap or Sporting Clays. Anybody know of a shooting club in the Bloomingtob/Colombus/Seymour area. Thanks Mike
I have a trap launcher and shoot clays in my backyard just looking for a more formal style of shooting.
The best gunstore in this area is in Nineveh called Cornerstone. Its a hardware store/contractor business. Very competitively priced on guns. Bailey's on SR 46 has some good deals but you will have to hagle him down.
Streck-Fu, 000 Buck is .36 cal and 00 Buck is .33 cal. I have no problem with shotguns for HD. In fact I have one right here beside me loaded with 2 3/4" 00 buck. Here in Brown county most home invasions involve more than one person. In that case I would state a carbine is better (for me). As...
Been a gun guy for about 20 years now I was raised in a non-gun owning family. Primarily a muzzleloader and a shotgun guy at the moment but I do have a 1911 (of course) and a Glock. Been in the military for 19 years and have two deployments to the Middle East. Shoot in my backyard and made my...
A shotgun will work fine with the correct ammunition. However I think a carbine (.223/5.56mm) is better. Less recoil, faster follow up shots, bigger magazine capacity and less reloading. Carbine/shotgun/pistol in that order.
