      Wow. Okay, that sucks. I would assume it's only been fired once at the factory? I just got off the phone with Patti at Springfield, and I'm in the process of emailing those pictures to her. Guess I won't be shooting it :-(

      I paid 675 for it. Looks like they go from 770-850 on the interwebs. I think they had one at Whittakers for 800 a few weeks ago. So I'm not that pissed... I really can't be at the price. In my defense, it's hard to see, and impossible to see sometimes. I couldn't see it when i bought it...

      From a local gun show. The shop running the table at the gun show was local-ish. I'll give them a call tomorrow first. I'd be surprised if they had any more of them, these things are somewhat hard to find.

      Polishing your slide yourself?

      You just need to spend more time on it. I cant tell from those pictures what you've done so far. You'll probably need to start over again with a lower grit sandpaper, and work your way up to 2000 or so. THEN you can polish with the dremel.

      Well I found one. There was a gunshow locally, and there was one springfield stainless 1911... So I bought it :D It was a 'Loaded' model, which is nicer than what I was shopping for.. but it was the same price as the mil-spec! It was at least $100 cheaper than I've seen them anywhere...
